DWP Recruiting Again - 2012

players1987: If you're reading, I feel it's a real shame that you should decide not to post any longer as I (and many others) have benefitted from reading your posts, especially when we are getting no information through e-mail or on the DWP's website. It makes for quite a long and anxious wait for those of us who are eager to work for the DWP so thank you for your input so far and I hope you'll continue to post.0

I would urge that no-one reply to Appalled's posts. They're really not worth getting worked up over. I shall now be hitting the 'ignore' button.0

I just thought I would check this thread out again for any more news on the DWP positions....there's alot of bickering (and insulting) going on...mmmm I hope everyone involved would be able to cope in the real world...I think it is true to say that not everyone out there will be happy to conform to the rules and surely the EO positions could well be customer facing... it takes a special person to do this job "well" and not just someone who can pass a test with over 90% ..well that is just my opinion.0

Just checked application again. Still no change. But I think we will hear this week. In the meantime back to daughters homework. Lol. (just trying to lighten things up)0

To be absolutely clear any information I have given out is general information which is being passed by other advisors to candidates in the jcp to move them back into work which I have also done but using a diff method
Don't worry about it players! I very much appreciate the info you've shared so far.
You may know as well as I do (having worked there previously) there are a few back stabbers in the DWP, and sadly some people resort to stirring to gain a few brownie points. Not much anyone can do to change that I'm afraid, just part of life.
I also think, sometimes, people in nice secure jobs, forget how stressful it is to be out of work for a while - wondering if you'll still have a home this time next year etc - and pinning your hopes on every job that comes along. It's threads like this one (and the sharing of info) that keep people going. When you're going through hell, keep going...0 -
I have been checking my application update and communication part of the application .no change so far.
I will keep checking the thread and hopefully will have some insight here. Just to cheer u up on this forum..... Here is a joke.( pls don't be offended, if don't like it)
John was sitting outside his local pub one day, enjoying a quiet pint and generally feeling good about himself, when a nun suddenly appears at his table and starts decrying the evils of drink.
"You should be ashamed of yourself young man! Drinking is a Sin! Alcohol is the blood of the devil!"
Now John gets pretty annoyed about this, and goes on the offensive.
"How do you know this, Sister?"
"My Mother Superior told me so."
"But have you ever had a drink yourself? How can you be sure that what you are saying is right?"
"Don't be ridiculous--of course I have never taken alcohol myself"
"Then let me buy you a drink - if you still believe afterwards that it is evil I will give up drink for life"
"How could I, a Nun, sit outside this public house drinking?!"
"I'll get the barman to put it in a teacup for you, then no one will ever know."
The Nun reluctantly agrees, so John goes inside to the bar.
"Another pint for me, and a triple vodka on the rocks", then he lowers his voice and says to the barman "and could you put the vodka in a teacup?"
"Oh no! It's not that Nun again is it?"0 -
As a former DWP employee/civil servant I know for a fact that this kind on information cannot be released before the recruitment process has ended. Even then, by law, you’d have to use the Freedom of Information Act to obtain those figures. My obvious question to you is: How did you get all that info (not that I don’t appreciate it in case it’s accurate)?
I studied law and I know confidentiality policy too. This information is about statistics and not about particular person, whether person x is hired or not. So pls stop negative criticism and let the person help us ,out of his goodness.0 -
I spoke to someone on the recruitment line today.. I was initially calling just to see if they would tell me what the benchmark is for the online tests. To be honest, after reading some of the comments on here I was feeling quite pessimistic about my scores (mine was approx 74% and in the 61% percentile). The nice lady told me the benchmark is 35%!!! And my percentile figure is actually 'quite good'! :T So feeling a little more optimistic now. I asked her when she thinks I am likely to hear anything, she replied sometime this week probably as they started the sift yesterday. :j
So don't lose hope everyone! Hopefully those of us waiting to hear back will hear something very soon. If anyone already has, please share!
Btw.. I have applied in the South West region as I plan to move there soon, but am currently still living in the North East, how possible do you think it might be, if I do get through to the interview stage, that I'd be allowed to sit it in the North East?? I'm moving early Apr.0 -

What do you mean when you say your score was 74 say if you got 20 in the first part and 220 in the second are you just doing (20/24) + (220/336) = 74% which actually gave me a percentile of 68% so your score might go up if you was only in the 61 percentile0 -

18/24 and 226/336.
So 75% + 67.3 / 2 = 71%.
Sorry 71 not 74.0
