Hi guys,
Got my call yesterday for a start in the Glasgow region. 7 weeks after my provisional offer! Was basically begged to start on Monday, which was a shock. It was a bit of a hassle but I managed to sort things so I can start at short notice. Got an ok location, 13 miles from my current house and about an hour commute via public transport but I'm taking my driving test soon which should cut that down, plus I am moving quite close to my office soon. The women on the phone was very nice, felt bad as I was a little bit dry with her cos i was a little miffed to be put under pressure when they had kept me waiting so long, so I tried to be extra nice when I called her back since it wasnt her fault at the end of the day.
Only bad point is I got the role I was dreading. Custome service manager
:-/ having worked in the jobcentre before I know this role isn't a great fit for me, however while it can be a nightmare to change office iv found roles can be changed a lot more easily so I will just bide my time.
Good luck to everyone else. I hope you get what you want. And, I hope the responses come soon, after 7 weeks I was honestly starting to get mega stressed out.0 -
Well finally!! I got the call today, offering me a PA position at a job centre 15 mins drive from my house. I currently have a 45 mins drive to work, so I am very happy with this!
I start on 9 July in the Durham & Tees Valley area. (My interview score was 9,9,9,9,9)0 -
I start on Monday and still don't know what my role is... Wasn't told over the phone and over the excitement forgot to ask! Oh well I hope on Monday someone will mention it too me so I don't have to look silly by asking0

As a manager you wont be on the phones all the time though will you? I assume thats a telephone role with customer service....
What office did you get, out of curiosity?0 -

Nope, its based in a jobcentre so it's not a telephony role. CRM's are basically the people who deal with benefit enquiries in the jobcentre, while the PA's deal with work based enquiries.
Both have their ups and downs. PA's have targets, but they largely get to manage their own workload management. However, in this role you have to be able to take 'corrective' steps if a customer doesnt appear to be looking for work.
CRM's often have to work to customer demand (tho you will work with other people so can still to an extent arrange your day) so there is a little less freedom with managing your own workload. However, the upside is you are not subject to targets, and you are not the person who has to impose any negative sanctions on customers......but you will probably help them sort out their benefit when something goes wrong.
Work in a jobcentre previous I was an assistant PA, which I found more enjoyable, because I prefer working with people on an ongoing basis.
Will pm you my office vindallou.0 -

Me too, and HR are WELL !!!!ed off about this. Seems I'm not the only person who's enquired with them today and they are very much of the opinion that we should NOT be completing our own pre appt checks.... Waiting to hear fro someone what action to take now....0 -
Can anyone please explain exactly what the PA role entails. Thanks0
