  • I start next week in Derby... Really can't be bothered :-( the job I'm leaving is so easy. I can literally sit there and do no work all day if I want to and no one will notice. I can also just work for a few hours a day if i feel like It. It's going to suck having to do 9-5 and deal with customers every day. 'Just think of the money' as they say.

If you don't mind me asking, what job is it that you're leaving? I'm still waiting to get a firm offer for West London... Been almost a month now and I'm getting restless.

    Best of luck tomorrow!
  • Got a confirmed job offer from Durham & Wearside on Tuesday starting in July as a PA at a job centre about 10 miles away which is great as it's a good run with little traffic.

I did ask about how locations had been given as my preferred choice was Durham and was told by the lovely guy who rang that there were no jobs for that office and that they had given us jobs based on distance from home. I mentioned my holidays towards the end of July but he said so long as I could do the 2 week training they would be ok so yay!

I see this listed as part of the employment package on the HMRC website, but can't find anything about it on other Civil Service sites. Can anyone confirm that this scheme is available in the DWP?

    Drew

It actually used to be mentioned on the working for us section of dwp...how strange

Got the call yesterday...i have my start date for north west ....9th july as i have to give 4 weeks notice. it really wasnt an office i wanted as its such a pain to get to and is miles away and parking is around 5 pounds a day..around 15 pounds costs per day. i am sure the staff will be lovely though. however i want to do the job and was wondering if anybody knew if there was a time limit for transferring to other offices when vacancies become available?

congratulations to everyone who has received their offers :)

    Hi Folks,
I got a provisional offer 3 weeks ago, but they have not given me any idea as to where I will be working.
After reading how far away your offices are I am getting VERY worried. I live in Chester and don't drive, the only ones in my travel range are Chester, the Port and Northwich . .

Has anyone had an offer for these area's ???

After all this waiting it would be dreadful to be offered a job I would have to decline :(:(:(

I have decided to decline my offer as it is too far away and will cost far too much. i really wanted the job but am staying in my current job for now... i am still on the list for anything closer til mid october. i hope everyone else gets an office that is manageable :) x
