After finding out that I was 23rd, then 18th, then 34th on the B&S reserve list. I have been emailed by a very nice man in district office today saying that 34th is definitely the correct position. I am soooooooooooo disappointed! I was so happy to find out that I was 18th and now district office is basically saying that anything I've heard from essr.northwest is wrong.

Redsky, did you have the contact details for your district or did the recruitment line give them to you?

I really want to ensure that they've had my SE form but don't know how to get in touch with district.

Oh no, that's really mean of them. How easy to give information and then back out simply saying its wrong. This process is totally out of order. How can someone come up with a position/specific number? If I were you, I would ask them how 18 was quoted in the first place. It is not like there is a slight difference in the two. There is 2 much difference. Don't give up, please follow this up and get to the bottom of it. Why were all these positions quoted. They should have one waiting list per region and looking up numbers should not be a big deal. Even if this list is a working document that is constantly updated, positions should be cystal clear. Good Luck!

I couldn't find the contact details via any website but it seems that one of my many emails to essr.northwest had been forward to B&S and I then got a personal reply [from a named member of staff, not just DWP team].
I have now asked whether I can obtain the contact email for the other 2 districts I applied for - if the info given by essr.northwest is incorrect I would like to know my correct position on these reserve lists too.
Perhaps you could email essr.northwest and ask for your district's contact email?;)

I sent them an email a few days ago but no response :-(

Like I said a few pages back, maybe if they'd given everyone their district's contact emails back when we all accepted the prov offers, then the districts would have been much quicker as they would be getting all the emails, not the recruitment team (who I feel quite sorry for!)

The man explained that shared services must have been looking at a 'transitional' list or quoting from a list for another district. Either way, I agree it's out of order to give one piece of information and then take it back - with no apology.
My position on the lists for other districts is worse so not sure how they came up with the idea that 'they were simply looking at the wrong list'?!?
Having worked for the department before, it really doesn't surprise me.
Knowing my luck they will contact me again next week to say that 34th is wrong, I'm actually 134th!:rotfl:

I had a provisional offer from North Scotland today:j . The Next Step asks for the following:

"Please provide details of your current and previous employer or educational tutor whom we may contact for references.
Please also give the name and address of one person to whom you are well known and who has agreed to act as a referee."

So asking for three referees, as I read it. But there is only space for two referees. What have other people done at this stage? Just work referees or one work and one personal?

I gave a personal referee and my previous employer (where I was made redundant from in Jan 2011 after 14 years), I didn't give them my current employer as I've only been there a year and was worried that it would make it difficult for me if they were approached but I wasn't offered a job at the end of it! As it turns out, they confirmed my employment history with HMRC and didn't contact either of my referees - and I have now had a firm offer & start date. Good luck!

Not yet. CRB done, 2 x personal refs contacted and returned their forms this week - was (naively) hoping to hear something yesterday but nothing so far.
