Yes it is the same area, although followed some/ most of the posts in this forum, this is the first mention I've seen of this district! (would rather not say exact location on open forum if thats ok!)

Congratulations and well done on your new job
Congratulations to you too. And yes, we are indeed rare posters for this area. I was beginning to think that I was the only one who had applied!
  • I had my provisional offer on April 7th...so two weeks before you, and I only had my firm offer today.

My CRB paperwork was submitted to Disclosure Scotland 23rd April apparently and it took just under 2 weeks for me to receive it. I sent it off to DWP on 5th May (they would have received it Tuesday 8th May) and I received it back from them the following day! Took 8 days from them receiving my CRB to phoning me with a firm offer.

DWP are dealing with HUGE volumes of applications and my timescales can only be used as an indication...it will no doubt vary from district to district.

It has been such a long wait...but hold on in there, that final phonecall is sooooooo worth the wait! x

    Thanks :)

I'm just literally stunned it would take them 4 weeks to even think about sending the forms x

Avacado, the PA role is really interesting and varied as you meet many different types of people, all with their own challenges about getting back into work. One customer might be a professional who has been laid off, your next may be a homeless person with substance misuse issues. Every day is different which I found great as otherwise work can get very boring if it's the same all the time.

Thanks, Yes I agree this type of role can be very varied. I am not sure I am the best person for this though. I am not doubting my abilities, just that I started in a frontline role 8 yrs ago but have not done any frontline work for the last 3-4 yrs so feeling little strange. I hope I can get used to soon and enjoy it.

I'm South Yorkshire too, and will ring Disclosure Scotland tomorrow. Then you'll know if it's just you or maybe all of us.

Good to see another S.Yorks person on here. Could you share the info you find out today with me please?

A general question to everyone, any ideas how i find out my crb reference number?

You'd find it out from the original form that you filled in or the certificate that they issue when it's complete. If you're after it so as to enquire about how it's progressing, you don't need the reference number just your full name and date of birth.

Reference: for those who have got their checks done could u pls clear that if dwp is taking the employment reference and personal reference separately?
Are 3 references the minimum ? Got an email requesting to contact referees urgently.

I found the references that they took up weren't the ones that I put on the 'next step' bit.
When I filled in the work history form prior to the interview (where we had to give history for the past three years), I put two personal references (because I was unemployed at the very beginning of it and at the very end of the period) and one work reference (for the job I had in the middle bit!). I know they contacted both of the personal references as they both phoned me to wind me up but I haven't heard from the employment one as I guess that they've just done it and sent it back. I think it's just however many is needed to cover the last three years...

Aw I see, they contacted all the places I have listed in three years history and did not get any response from anyone, as I gave two references which were different.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Dum de dum and the wait continues. I'm worrying now that they won't have received the form I had to send them re my S/E (even though it contains no new information, just a repeat of what I out on the app form). I phoned the recruitment line but they said that they can't check for me as it would have gone to another office '30 miles away'. They just said don't worry it'll be fine.

The one thing that is stopping me from panicking more is that no-one else seems to have heard. This si just f*cking ridiculous, how much longer are theygoing to keep us waiting? If they've had our CRBs back, and have no need to contact references (or indeed have had the references) then what is the hold-up? Internal and other CS people have heard - why not everyone else? I'm just getting more and more despondent and angry (switching between the two!) as the wait continues.

I know we're all in the same boat, just wanted to vent!
