Partner just received another email from DWP to say she is now 18th on the waiting list for B&S.

Strange considering she was 33 yesterday!

I thought I'd ask my current position to see how nay places I have moved up in the last 4 weeks. Still at 83rd for the Northwest, which either means everyone who was offered has taken the job, or they just can't be arsed updating the lists!

For those in SE/East Scotland waiting, I asked the question when we were likely to start hearing back after checks being completed (I know my disclosure was back last week and at least two of my three references returned their forms so that they would have arrived on Monday just gone) and I got this. Hopefully we should start hearing imminently!

"I'm still waiting for our HR Shared Services department to confirm that all checks have been passed. Don't worry about the delay - none of our External candidates have reached this stage yet. This has been a huge exercise for DWP nationally and sometimes the wheels don't work as fast as we would all like them to.

We plan to start candidates in Induction Training from 18th June in weekly intakes.

As soon as I get the check pass confirmation you will get a phone call from me or one of my staff to advise you of the specific post we can offer you.

I do hope that it won't be too much longer."

Well if they want people to start on 18th June, they have to tell them this week based on most people having to give the standard 4 weeks notice.

Did you email the recruitment essr.northeast@dwp.gsi.gov.uk for this information?

I was asking specifically because I was going to discuss it with my personal advisor (as I'm currently out of employment) so that date may not be firm and she said it was on a weekly starting point so I guess that would allow people who need to give notice the necessary time.

I didn't email essr, when I was contacted to complete the placement preference form (which wasn't a preferencing exercise!) I received it from the person in the East of Scotland who is managing the new intake so I contacted her directly.

Ah ok, they should provide everyone with the details of the recruitment team handling intake for their area, then we could bug them instead of the main line (obviously you're in the enviable position of having those details). Maybe it would make them move faster if they were dealing with the questions and such that the main lot are IYSWIM.

Is it really 3 months training? Does that take place on the job or at a distinct training location? Useful to know as I will be re-locating. Any feedback appreciated. Thanks.

I was just picking up bits and pieces of information previously posted from previous FTA staff who stated they needed training before being let loose on the public.

I would guess that training will take place within the largest, most accessable JC within your district, however someone more knowledgeable may be along shortly to advise as at the moment I am in the dark as much as you.

It must be a daunting yet exciting thought to re-locate though :)

This is true - I emailed her at 11.00 and got the answer by about 12.00 so completely sympathise with those that are having to wait for answers and the conflicting messages that they're getting when they do get them.

I'm thinking that if Shared Services got my personal references back on Monday, I would have thought that the work reference may be back Tuesday or Wednesday (as they wouldn't have posted it in time on Friday) so *hopefully* they'll send it on in time for Thursday or Friday. As you can see, I have probably crossed over to madness in waiting! Thank god for Leveson. That and the odd job search is all that's filling my days at the moment!

I really do hope you are correct about the preference form not being an exercise - it would certainly put my mind at ease, but I was told by two different people on the recruitment helpline that it was just an exercise and I could be offered a placement ANYWHERE within my region (some offices are over a 2 hr drive away EACH WAY).

Really anxious to hear where I will be placed now - and super keen to get started!
