Hi Kely2301, what doesn't help our odds is the fact that there woudn't be many multiple region applicants in S E Wales so we have to rely on candidates turning down unsuitable offices for travelling to. I would only be prepared for a 30 to 40 minute commute each way to work or otherwise I would stay in my current job:)
I read the other day that someone from another area was contemplating a 2 hour commute each way!!!! (2 buses & a train)
I personally wouldn't cope with that:( If I had been prepared to travel to work those distances I could have applied for about 7 regions myself and increased my odds of an offer:D[/QUOTE]

That person was me. I did not really contemplate this yet. I only informed everyone of the offer I had received. I have not accepted the offer and don't think I could cope with so much travelling myself. I applied for 3 regions as depending on location, I could travel to offices in all three counties within 30-1 hr (in some cases). So I did not apply to 3 regions as I was prepared to travel 4 hrs a day. It's just that I got offered an office which is so far away yet there are other offices in B&S where I can get to in 40 min which is acceptable.

Applying for 7 regions did not necessarily improve one's chances, depending on where you interviewed it actually had the opposite effect on some. The general consesus on this forum was that B&S were very tough markers and in my case, I interviewed in B&S (unfortunately) & the same score was taken for other 2 regions due to which I am on reserve. Now they are talking of completely removing me from the reserve lists of the 2 regions once I accept B&S offer .
  • Had an offer from West Yorkshire this morning (9:03AM), which I've accepted.

Hope the rest of you hear something soon!

hi bit off info from recruitment line (who were very helpful)

    i am external

49 in the nw list with score of 35 ( not going to get a job in NW then)
if you have applied to a number of differing areas and have multiple offeres/reservie lists then once all applications have progressed to the reserve/offer stage then the ref/checks stage will begin .

i accepted a north scotland offer over 3 weeks ago and no checks have started, double checked with discloser scotland and they have recieved nothing.
    conclusion
big reserve lists, dont hold out to much hope if you get the reserve email.
takes ages for the checks esp if you have applied to multiply areas.
and west yorkshire - very odd offer out today as on strike but hay ho at least i got a offer ..

    sue

ps good luck to the strikers

Hi - that's useful info. Can you tell me which number you used to call them? The guy I spoke to on Tuesday would tell me nothing at all - said he had no access to any information, couldn't pass me on to anyone and basically blanked me. I may however have called the wrong team...

Any advice appreciated! Congrats on the offer too :j

hi guys, just realised its been what 4 months to the day i first applied for this job lol, after having a provisional offer iv not had any communication what so ever apart from one phone call asking for my address and my mothers maiden name. every day im waiting for the phone to ring but no luck, anyone in the northwest had any feedback recently? or allocations

I've heard nothing from nw, I asked for an internal contact from the recruitment hotline and they wouldn't give me one. It's taken less time to complete on my house, personally install a new kitchen and bathroom suite than it has taken to get my provisional offer!

Quick question, it's that long ago I can't actually remember what I filled in at the interview but I've just had a call off a friend who wasn't one of the referees I completed on the CS website when I got my provisional offer to provide a reference for me. Did we fill in reference details at the interview or is something weird going on? The person who has been contacted for a reference is fine and it's not a problem that they asked him but it just made me wonder...

Incidentally, I spoke to disclosure Scotland and they told me my clearance had been sent to the employer on Tuesday which is obviously a step in the right direction. Anyone else heard anything for SE Scotland locations??

Nope - and Disclosure Scotland haven't even had an application in for me yet either.

Hi Avacado, I wasn't having a dig at you, hey it's a free country and all that, also people live on borders of several regions so I can see the logic ;) OK so I exaggerated on the 7 region bit, but I could have gone in for S W Wales and hoped for the chance of an Easterly lying office? Or gone in for Bristol area & hoped for an office not too far from the Welsh border? Too be perfectly honest I just went in for my home area because it made more sense. If I had received an offer I could travel to maybe 12 offices in my own area within 40 mins.
Anyway, I hope you get a nearer option with your other choices cos I don't envy you that possible 4 hour commute
    Best of luck.

Thanks a ton!!! even if I applied just in BC I could still get an office with a commute of over 1.5 hrs one way, this is only coz not all areas are well connected by public transport and if u dont drive u have no choice. Trains are not bad (although expensive) but certain areas in BC (my home district) is only covered by buses so I could be in the same position as now. I see your point though. Hope I get some news from BC.

Good luck to one and all.

Any more Kent peeps here? Seen Jade & Mr Rys recently :) Get the impression our area not going to be in the top 5 districts to post. Fingers crossed for us all x

    Hi lassie come home,

Have you heard anything from the kent area yet, still waiting thought they might have given a start date by now ???
  • Hi Vegas - nothing yet. I did get an e-mail last week (which they instantly retracted) which appeared to go to all successful candidates asking which offices we'd be interested in, however nothing since.
Will post as soon as I hear anything :)
