DWP Recruiting Again - 2012

Just so you all have an idea of timescales with the CRB checks, I had a letter from DWP on Monday 23rd April advising that I would be sent my CRB certificate and I received it through the post yesterday.
If you ring Disclosure Scotland on 0870 609 6006 (they only need your full name and date of birth) they will advise on the progress of your check. I rang them on Friday and was told the certificate had been printed on Thursday but had missed the post, so would be posted on Friday - then I received it the following day.
So, turnaround from CRB application to receipt is 11-14 calendar days.0 -
I find this pretty hard to believe? Are you saying that thirty odd people in your region scored 41 to 45???
That seems outrageous! Thirty odd people scoring 98888 or above ? Im not being funny but that can't be right, can it????
Personally I find it remarkable that anyone manages to get 9/9 in any competency let alone multiple competencies. But 30 + candidates achieving these scores in just one region??? Absolutely incredible :A
I scored 92% in the online test, got 88887 for my competencies on the app form and in the interview scored 88888. So 40 points for the interview in Tyne and Wear. I got an email confirming that I am number 31 on the reserve list... go figure...
As far as the high marks go, well the number of applicants in this area was so high, that in an effort to reduce numbers the pass mark for the on-line test was raised to 80% . I think its fair to assume that the candidates that scored this high in the test were not stupid people and so I can only conclude that this is the reason for the corresponding high marks in the interviews.
Of course the fact that the 100 vacancies have apparently only actually turned out to be 18 vacancies compounded the problem. So yes, it is completely possible that out of the estimated 1900 people who applied, that 18 people scored 42+ in the interview. Bad luck for us "oop north". But as everyone knows, this is an unemployment blackspot with approx 80 unemployed people for every vacancy advertised, compared to 2 unemployed people for every vacancy advertised in other parts of the country. (I checked this on-line though I don't know how accurate this information is, it depressed me enough to stop researching any further lol)
So yep, unbelievable bad luck, because if there had indeed been the number of vacancies that were advertised then Makembill and I would have had a job. Either way, we were in the top couple of percent, which considering the number of applicants is pretty good going. Still... very, very annoying. In short, we made the grade, the jobs just weren't there to give us!!!
At number 31 on the reserve list, we don;t stand a chance unless the DWP find more funds to recruit more people. Que sera and all that lol but good luck to all of you who got through, wherever you are it has been the most horrendous process...but it's over... 1, 2, 3 Breathe aannnnnd RELAX lol xx0 -

Well the phone calls for EXTERNAL people in SE Wales have started, my friend just heard where he's going. I now have my phone propped up in front of my screen waiting for the call. I'm pretty convinced I'm not going to get my choice of location as my friend put down Cardiff too, got a better score than me, but didn't get his choice.£2012 in 2012 - £13810

Just spoke with helpline. confirmed that 99% of references are done through hmrc so dont panic if your refs have not been contacted yet. on the crb front it is 20 working days from when the processing centre receive your paperwork. in essence this means that it is not 20 days from offer as once you accept the provisional offer, your paperwork is then sent on to start the process. Therefore at least a 6 week wait from offer. tick tock.0

And I'm still waiting for a call as an internal applicant to se Wales : /0

HalloweenJack, one of my friends is still waiting and she's internal. There seems to be no method to this madness!!!
I still want to know how they are deciding who goes where, my friend who got Newport instead of Cardiff scored quite highly but they told him that Cardiff was already allocated, so I guess people with higher scores all wanted Cardiff. I don't know how they chose Newport for him though, whether that was the next closest place, or it was a random pick. I just hope they have some common sense when it comes to putting people in locations they didn't pick as opposed to allocating it randomly. It would be horrible to be given somewhere that I couldn't really get to and having to either turn it down and thus be rejected, or to have to face a very long, complicated and expensive commute.
Also if they are just doing it randomly, then what if they give someone from Cardiff an office such as Cwmbran, but someone from that side of Wales an office like Penarth - that would make no sense, but then again not a lot of this procedure has made sense!!£2012 in 2012 - £13810
