Does that mean you have been given a location and/or start date? What area are you?
Yes, I have been offered a location and tentative start date of 6th June but I have a massive dilemma. I need to really consider my options as using public transport to get to this area will take me about 1.5 hrs one way (2 hrs on the bus) and I am told once I accept this, they will remove me from the reserve list for the other area. But if I don't take this and they never offer from the other area, I will not have a jobIt's such a difficult situation.

No need for another thread , this forum got an active audience who might be interested in that opportunity.I appreciate someone out there is trying to help.0 -
Thanks for that info. That does sound tricky and I really couldn't think what I would do in that situation. Were you offered one of your preferred locations in the area actually offered? And was your notification by letter, email or phone?0

Oh bums.
This is NOT what I wanted to hear... yay for the location, start date etc, booo to the having to wait till someone else pulls their finger out and decides in another region.
Have they given you long to decide??
Out of interest, what WAS the location? Guessing not city centre, given the travel times...
I, for the record, have heard diddly squat. As usual lol0 -
Hi Avocado,
If I were you, I would look at it like this: if all you'd been offered was this post and you weren't on a reserve list for a better location, would you take the job? If the answer is 'yes' then I would accept it. You can't predict what will happen with the reserve list and if you accept the one you've been offered you'll never know any differently! Plus, once you're in JCP you will be able to put a transfer request in to your preferred location - although you might have to have been in post for 6 months before you can do this, you'd have to talk to your manager once you'd started.0 -

No, it's not my preferred location. In fact its one of the one's I did not even tick on the location form. its not city centre. From my house, I'll need to take a bus, then train then another bus to get thereThey emailed me asking to call them which is what I did.

I am not sure if I would have accepted it. I have also tried to look at it this way. From what people have mentioned on this thread, tranferring has not really been an option. That's why people who have done this job for a while were asked to apply externally so they could get their preferred location if they got a good score as apparently their convenience was not a reason to ask for a transfer at all. That's my understanding from what I've read and heard.
JessStar: I will send you a PM with location.
Redsky: PM to you as well.0 -
Avacado, that sucks.
Strangely, everyone that I've heard from who has been given a location (including you) has been offered somewhere other then their preferred office. It makes me wonder whether the preferences have been taken as the places you really DON'T want to work!!!£2012 in 2012 - £13810 -
