I've had enough of the private sector long hours. So I'm going to take it easy and relax in this job. Go to work do plenty of PR be nice to everyone smile regularly never criticize.
To all that got an offer congratulationseasy money easy street here we go.
Attempting not to get involved in the bickering, so not addressing any of that.
BUT: I've just got home from a 14 hour day. I am a civil servant. There's quite a lot of them about, you know...
I'd hate for you to go into this without all the facts mate: it can be bloody hard work at times0 -
There has been a lot of chat on here about the process, about candidates accepting multiple offers, hogging jobs etc etc and the fairness of this...
I scored 40 and just missed out on a place in the Tyne and Wear area and just to rub salt into the wound, it seems that this score would have secured me a provisional offer in the District next door (Durham). However, this is called life!!
On another day, with a different interview panel I may have got a higher score, then again... I may not have.
Personally, I am delighted to hear that there are so many applicants who have applied to multiple areas and secured offers in most. In fact this is the best news I have had this week!! I don't blame them at all for their "belt and braces" approach. It seems to be good sense in what is a brutal, dog eat dog, job market.
And of course, this means that there aren't half as many applicants as first thought, rather just a high number of applications. and offers WILL be made to those waiting in the wings. Yes the system is definitely imperfect, but that is the system all the same and whether we like it or not we are stuck with it.
As for questioning the motives of people for wanting to work for the DWP (which also seems to be a common thread right now), I really don’t think its anybodies business but theirs. Everyone has their own personal reasons for applying for these jobs, and they are just that “PERSONAL”. The bottom line is, that as long as people have the skills, experience and competencies that the DWP is willing pay for, and as long as they do their job well, their motives for applying are completely irrelevant, as is their sex, colour, race religious beliefs, or personal circumstances.
Heartfelt, congratulations to everyone who was successful and good luck to all of those on the reserve list x0 -

You may find that a tad disappointing too. "Gold Plated"? Good lord no.
I may direct you to any number of trade union sites that would explain more... We ain't striking for nothing0 -

Here we go again...............
So Plutoblahblah comes on line and kicks off. Then goes off line.
Then Sam Morton comes on line and kicks off. Now Sam Morton appears to be off line.
Wonder who's up next....???!!!!0 -
Bill,
The bottom line is I got the job and you didn't.
Profit and bonuses are important as it motivates the staff. Recrutiment companies get a bad reputation but its your own fault you got 40/45 as it wasn't good enough. I tell my clients the honest truth but I make it constructive and give them a purpose. Respect is earned through performance not given because of position. I respect people who work hard, graft and take pride in their work. I don't respect lazy chatterboxes who are great to have a drink with on a friday night but unreliable in the office. I used this for one of my competencies as lazy unresponsive people damage morale, productivity and responsibility.
I've had enough of the private sector long hours. So I'm going to take it easy and relax in this job. Go to work do plenty of PR be nice to everyone smile regularly never criticize. Just be grade A in !!!! licking and accomodating everyone. Take the salary easy money and keep my head down.
I got what I wanted I ticked all the boxes. Now its times to relax and chill and make easy money. The most stressful thing you're going to find is one angry customer. Water of a ducks back.
To all that got an offer congratulationseasy money easy street here we go.
To Bill. thanks for the lectures and telling people how wonderful you are. Sorry you weren't good enough for the job because I was better than you. Just think all the people you advised on how to write competencies failed in the interview stage.Competition was fierce but your not wanted or needed and your contribution damaged others.
Its quite funny though isn't it Bill that you didn't get the job since you acted like you were the expert. You did this wonderful interview telling everyone how wonderful you were and how well prepared you were. Yet it wasn't good enough!!!
I beat you. I got the job you didn't. I deserve this job You don't. HAHA
Thanks for that Sam.
I was merely pointing out that the manner in which you addressed the people on this forum who have offered nothing but constructive advice to others was contemptuous, and that the financial rewards are very lame compared to successful private practisers. .
I still work in the public sector but fancied a change of scenery. My work is far from cushy and having spent time in JCP I can say first hand that the work there is far from cushy. You’ll certainly not be able to hide with your head down.
If you think my comments were in anyway based on the fact that you got the job and I didn’t then you’re so wide of the mark it’s unbelievable. I don’t recall ever telling anyone I was better than them and if I had I’m sure I’d have been put in my place. People often asked what score others had achieved and the answers were given.
I’m very interested to know how you feel my contribution damaged anyone, from either you or anyone else.
It’s easy to hide away on a forum like this and only put your head above the parapet once you’ve got an offer. You have obviously followed this forum for a while or taken a long time to check back posts to make the assumptions you have, I have never attempted to be high and mighty as you have in your post to me. People asked how I prepared and I told them. It worked for me Sam, even though I didn’t get the job. If I’d been asked at the start of the process “would you be happy with 40 points”, darn right I would. I never said I was expert at anything and never wished to be regarded as such
It is probable that you have a lot more experience than me in this field Sam and I’m gracious enough to accept that. I’m sure with your attitude you’ll be a sore miss to your current employment.
There have been no sour grapes from me and there won’t be any. As you got the job and I didn’t, I will (again) congratulate you and wish you well. I’ll certainly not be crying about (or gloating) to others that I made the reserve and they didn’t. It’s not the way I work and I’ll not be drawn further.

Hi Katchoon, welcome to the forums!!! Where in SE Wales is your partner hoping to work? I think there are about 6 of us on here for that district, all patiently waiting. I think you're right, we're the last district to find out (please feel free to correct me anyone if I'm wrong!) I feel like setting up a little sub-forum/support group - the last ones standing or something like that - anyone wanna join me? So far (and again correct me if I'm wrong) I think the people waiting for SE Wales I've 'spoken' to on here (except for Fern) have all wanted different offices, which means if we're lucky then we'll all get offers without it being to the detriment of any of the others if you see what I mean.
Anyway, as always congrats to everyone so far, and to all my fellow SE Wales-ers, fingers crossed guys, this is the last little wait now!
hi athenajm,
I'm one of the SE Wales ganghavn't posted for a while but still following the thread. Do you think tomorrow could be 'D' day for us finally? suddenly feeling very nervous tonight:eek:

Guys...it's not worth it. He's smug because he got a job and because of that he has the power to patronise.
Don't waste another post on this. Unless any of you agree with him and wish to twist the knife still further.
If you do, then go for it.0
