I work for the DWP at HEO grade and for this exercise this is completely not true, the department is massively over on there headcount at the lower grade (band
and need to promote internally to get the balance back between the two grades. And there are a lot of educated, critical thinking graduates/ex professionals at band B grade who took the job because 'they needed any job' in the last wave of recruitment who are all going for promotion.
Chloe, did your other half use your login or something? I'm slightly confused as just the other day you said you were applying for 2 EO posts?0 -
quick question does anyone know how this works
how do they guarentee an interviwew and how could you proove that you definatly havent met criteria if they do not give you an interview
Basically if you have got over the min score on the on-line test and your compentencies are above the pass mark - you will get an interview; someone who has not used the guaranteed interview scheme may get the same marks as you and not receive an interview. :]
A very crude example of why this happens would be say someone with a disability has applied for a job, but does not receive an interview - they could then claim (or believe) that their application was rejected soley because they have a disability, which in some firms is probably sadly true.0 -
For what it's worth, I had my fortnightly interview at the JCP yesterday and rang the Sheffield recruitment team helpdesk beforehand to see how long the process would be. The helpdesk told me
1/ all communication would be by email.
2/ if you haven't received an email saying that you haven't been successful, then your through to the sifting process
3/ 75000 (yes 75 thousand) applicants nationwide have passed the on-line assessment stage!
4/ They may be contacting people to arrange interview slots as early as next week, as yet they have not been given the dates themselves.
My EO at the JCP told me that the competency sift had not started yet and that it would probably be a couple of weeks before I heard anything.
Thanks for that info Dementor.
Crikey, 75,000!!
I wonder how many staff they have working on the sift process?
And I wonder how long they spend looking at each application - I guess getting through to interview after your competencies are examined really is a game of pot luck (if the figure of 75,000 is accurate). When you're going through hell, keep going...0 -
I'm sorry I don't know what the total number of positions is/was. The only region I applied for was advertised as EO, no mention of AO, I guess it would depend on the number of internal staff who apply and move up a grade leaving AO posts available. I have only specified locations within a 20 minute drive of my home address. I also don't fancy the wages after you take out high travel costs! lol.
As an EO you will be considered as a 'mobile' grade. This means the business can place you in any location which is deemed to be 1.5hrs travel time by public transport from your home - at your own cost. AOs and part-timer's it's 1hr.0 -
HI GYES
New to this forum. i did the dwp test for north west region and scored 83%. do i stand any chance for an interview? please let me know when they are likely gonna call for interview.0 -
Not trying to be a D***head, but I am very skeptical of people who have scored 90%+, and would think that DWP are smarter than just taking on the top 10% of people to a interview.
The test is very open for abuse, I won't advertise how but it's simple, I can gurantee myself 90%+ if i really wanted to, taking the moral high ground and for testing myself. I took the test with no prior experience or revision and scored 70%+
Just FWIW, I didn't "cheat" or "abuse" the test, or "revise" and ended up scoring 99th percentile with 23/24 and 262/336. Not all high-scorers got there through immoral means.0 -

I agree with you. I completed the test on my own. I was, however, able to take it again when I applied for my second district and I scored higher. That's only because my original score was good and it boosted my confidence!0 -

P.S. I did score 97% and 99%. I am not happy to be called a cheat because I did well. I have worked as an EO before. :mad:0
