DWP Recruiting Again - 2012

Erazor,
as somebody who has worked on a temp basis for DWP in the 2009 recruitment drive I can assure you and everybody else that the interview has absolutely nothing to do with the work you will end up doing.
Somehow, I got through the interview but that's more to do with 20+ years of work experience and absolutely nothing to do with my suitability or capability to do the job required. To be honest I found the recruitment process a complete waste of 6 months of my life - I hope to god it doesn't last as long this time.
I had a missed call from DWP at home today but when I rang back I got "the number you have called has not been recognised". It might not be about this issue but I will have to wait for them to ring back anyway now to find out.0 -
For what it's worth, I had my fortnightly interview at the JCP yesterday and rang the Sheffield recruitment team helpdesk beforehand to see how long the process would be. The helpdesk told me
1/ all communication would be by email.
2/ if you haven't received an email saying that you haven't been successful, then your through to the sifting process
3/ 75000 (yes 75 thousand) applicants nationwide have passed the on-line assessment stage!
4/ They may be contacting people to arrange interview slots as early as next week, as yet they have not been given the dates themselves.
My EO at the JCP told me that the competency sift had not started yet and that it would probably be a couple of weeks before I heard anything.0 -

Incorrect. See above. It's a control group you're being measured against, not each other.
Sorry to bring this up again, but I'm confused. If that's the case, how come someone applying in the London region achieved almost exactly the same raw scores as me and were rated 90th percentile (or so they posted on here) but in my region (SW) that score put me in 65th percentile?0 -

I was talking about interviews in general not specifically for the DWP role, I'm sure it probably doesnt test suitability or capability, but I still think its designed to weed out people and see if people hold true to their application. Example a not so bright friend got a clever friend to take the exam and compentencies under his friends name. Later this person will have a harder time at the interview stage then say he's clever friend would. If he doesn't pass his previous scores won't matter.0 -
So 62.5 applicants per post were successful for the online test.
I applied for Derbyshire and got through the on-line testing with 78% 22/24 222/3360 -
Someone in the jcp told me 60,000 people applied and the pass rate was 41%0

I had heard that nationwide there are circa 4000 vacancies (that may have been on here). If that's correct, it's more like 19 applications per vacancy. But I doubt that there will be a uniform distribution of applicants to posts, I would imagine the more rural locations would not be the same as the inner city ones.

4000 AO/EO posts.
The PCS website had some interesting numbers and breakdown of how many of these will need to be filled with the external exercise.
With redeployment and making existing FTA EO's permanent they estimated it would be 1,200 (which is half the advertised number)0 -
Sorry but how is 1200 a half of 4000?
Am I missing something?
Have nto heard anythig from DWP yet, frankly I am not over the moon about prospect for working for this kind of money in London but still... curiosity more than anything else really.. Unless I got the job in the JC that is a walking distance from home.. then I would not mind the starvation wages LOL0 -
