I have been checking for updates on this forum almost daily. Sorry got no news so can not contribute much. I am still waiting for any news . In the mean time, bought a new flat and arranging a mortgage. Luckily, I have something to occupy my mind with otherwise I may have gone mental. A surprise for dwp to employ a person who was fit for job till the interview and gone mental during endless wait and confusion.

End of April and start of may, I will start checking communication folder, as apparently one may never receive an email, due to system problems.

Anyone heard anything from Durham and Tees?
All this waiting is driving me crazy!!!
  • Yeah, they are really starting to drag the heels at this point. It'll be 6 weeks today since I had my interview. I emailed the recruitment team for around the 5th time the other day to ask why only 'some' of the Glasgow results have been issued, and they denied that any had been released.

I have two friends who have results from Glasgow, so they are talking nonsense, but I cannot figure why they have stopped releasing the results. This whole process is really starting to wind me up, and being lied to by the recruitment team really hasnt helped.

Hi, I'm waiting to hear from the Tyne and Wear area. The last I heard when I rang them about a month ago, would be that the results would be issued once all interviews country wide had been completed and this was expected to be on or around the 4th April (I believe that they finished last week as there were some "mop up" interviews still taking place in other areas). I was told that messages would be issued through the CS site. The estimated time frame for this (at that time) was the second or third week in April. As the second week has now been and gone, I would imagine that we will probably hear something in the next two weeks or so. I'm hopeful that results will be issued this week but in view of how prolonged this process has been, I am anticipating that it will be nearer the end of the month or early May. Very annoying, as I was told at my interview that the results would be issued on 21st March.

I'm trying not to be too impatient about it all, as in my experience, when applying for civil service jobs it generally seems to take between 5-6 months from the application close date, to actually starting "in post". However, even kowing this, it's becoming increasingly difficult not to be impatient. It feels like a life-time since my interview on 13th March !!
  • Does anyone have the recruitment phone number?
  • Right, here we go folks,

I have just contacted the recruitment helpline for clarification on what is happening. so this is what I asked. The first and most important question, and the one we all want to know the answer to, is of course, when are the results likely to be issued.

The answer is that they don't know. Apparently they are waiting for the merit lists to be submitted. The gentleman I spoke to said that they were asking areas to submit their merit lists on an almost daily basis and were still waiting, and that consequently until this happens their hands are tied and the results can't be released. They cannot (or will not) predict how long it is going to take for all areas to respond, hence the vagueness of his answer with reference to when we can expect to hear our results. He said it could be days or it could be weeks!!! (I suspect he was err-ing heavily on the side of caution - and who can blame him)

onto the next question. How do the merit lists work, and this was the answer.

All candidates who scored 20 or higher WILL be placed on a merit list (on the proviso that you scored a minimum of 4 for each competency, so therefore any score lower than 4 for a competency and you would be unsuccessful, even if your over all score was higher than 20)

However, if there are a large number of applicants the minimum requirement of 20 will be raised, and this will vary from area to area. I asked what the cut off was likely to be, and was told that it would most likely be, mid to high 30's, but again he was keen to stress that this would vary from area to area and sometimes even post to post depending on the number of applicants (so not much help really).

I suppose in short, if you have scored mid to high 30's, you are at least in a good position to be in with a shout, but even scoring higher than this is no garuntee of a job if scores in that area have been consistently high. It will all very much depend on the calibre of candidate applying and the number of vacancies.

so even with my score of 40, it seems that from here on in it really is all down to the luck of the draw and I still might not be offered a position whereas someone in another area with a much lower score could be. Que sera and all that lol x

Its all starting to feel like the grand national... it really is anyone's race.. but hey, you gotta be in it to win it... right???

so now we wait..........again lol x

08456032694 is the one I just called - let me know what they say. would be good to compare notes to see if there is any consistency in the info being given out x

Thanks. In short I was told, 'dunno, could be days, could be weeks'. They claim not to know anything nor have they recieved the merit lists from the areas, however I believe this to be nonsense. I challenged them on the fact that some of my friends have received an outcome for the Glasgow posts, and they said that Glasgow hasnt been released yet. They said that the people who had received a Glasgow response must have been mixed up with the West of Scotland posts in error. My thinking is thats not possible if their claim that 'they haven't received merit lists' from other areas is true. So, in my mind that confirms to me that they do have the merit lists, but there is some other reason why they are not releasing the information.

Poor guy on the phone, I was nice to him, but I think he had a few people before me who were less than kind! He sounded a bit scared from the word go. They would be better just explaining why there is a delay rather than making their staff sound misinformed.

seems like we've both told the same thing..which is good in one way (same message being given out) but bad in another, because it still leaves us clueless.

I'm guessing that there are probably still just a handful of areas that haven't submitted theirs yet - probably the same areas that were slow getting the interviews completed.

At least I can relax and stop checking for emails for a while lol x
