thanks. another qustion. when trying to cover most points, did you just expand on your comp story, or did you give another story. thanks again

I would say only expand if you are directly answering their question. If you talk too much about the other areas you will get shut down like me where they tell you to answer the specific question only.

I actually asked them, should can i go over my whole competency or do I need to answer just the question, they told me specifically to answer the question.

But they still wanted a STAR format, They want to know the situation, Action and Result of the question in hand.

They seemed more happy with short answers where they can prompt you. Other times they were eager to cut it short and jump to the conclusion section.

Hi, my interview is approaching (was originally last week, but I accidently rescheduled it!! Doh!). However, I have been offered another job, not bad, maybe not as interesting, but it is a definite offer. So I am building myself up to cancelling the interview? Tell me I am right! I will probably start in about a month, and the timing is going to all wrong with this one. I am pleased but this job was my preference.

By the way, THANK YOU, all you good people, with your humour and advice and for sharing the excitment, or should I say, trauma! Good Luck.....

I've been following this forum for quite a few weeks and appreciated all the comments and advice. Having applied for Durham and Tyne & Wear I breathed a sigh of relief to get an interview as they only sifted candidates above 80%.

Just checked and got my interview competency results which are 8,8,9,7,8 so understandably thrilled but unsure if these are just what will be based on giving job roles or will be combined with the test and sifted competency scores? Was told successful internal candidates will be given jobs 1st and would hope they're in place by end of April so no external starts until at least May. Anyone have any other information yet?

may differ from region to region but I was told there were 60 external positions in my area and they were looking for April starts defo :)

do you think I have a real chance with my written assessment result? or it is just to pass to interview stage and we will be again assessed just on the basis of our interview result?

At the interview you start a clean slate, from 0. So job offers will be based on interview marks. Good luck.

Anyboy else having an interview today? I'm at the panic stage where I'm doubting that my examples are strong enough and I need to think up some new ones. Only an hour to go before mine. Will let you know how I get on. Thanks for all the advice on here, especially whoever posted the grid-type method of doing your notes.

Good Luck to you, I am sure your examples are strong enough, don't start changing them last minute, you'll be fine. Stay calm and think positive and give it your best shot!
    All the best
