Im sorry I cant agree with this at all. Do you work in the job centre Esoog..?
Negative :]Wow, nearly 20,000 views on the forum... If thats any reflection on the amount of people what have applied then its a long wait lol
I wonder if that's a consequence of because it's at the Job centre, or just because these days so few Civil Service jobs actually get to stage 4 (external recruitment)? Or just because of the sheer number of positions available? Surely there can't be that many people waiting to jump on Civil Service jobs?0 -
There was 20000 views on this thread, it does not mean those are 20000 individual people viewing it.
Each of the participants may have viewed it several times0 -
Esoog,
You really stop posting in this thread unless you know it to be true, alot of your posts are way of the mark and not even close to truth eg AO role compared to a junior store manager and stage 4 recruitment external as you put it.
It doesnt help the people who have applied for the jobs to read what you posted0 -

Well yes I know that, but there has been about six different topics on here alone, new posters popping up just asking about forms/competencies etc etc which gives an indication as to the level of interest in the jobs.0 -
Of course - as there is hardly any jobs around nowadays0

Er, come again?
Please show me which of my posts in this thread are "way of the mark"??
AO/JUNIOR store manager is a very valid comparison in my eyes, the levels of responsibility for even a AO in civil service departments (perhaps not the DWP) are pretty similar to a "store department junior manager" in my eyes; hence the very similar wages. These wages are not just made up randomly you know; they are worked on things like responsibilities and what not.
as for the stages, allow me to help you out;Stage Guidance
Stage 1 - Internal, level moves
Stage 2 - Exclusive 10 day period for surplus/pre-surplus staff in all departments at their current grade
Stage 3 - Vacancies advertised to all staff, regardless of grade or department within a region
Stage 4 - External recruitment
But, back on topic;
gettingready, that's what I mean - there's not a lot of jobs around now but for some reason these DWP jobs appear to be very popular (on MSE), I'm interested as to why? like I said earlier I wonder if that's a consequence of because it's at the Job centre, or just because these days so few Civil Service jobs actually get to stage 4 (that's external recruitment rob)? Or just because of the sheer number of positions available? Surely there can't be that many people waiting to jump on Civil Service jobs?0 -

Perhaps you should look at this from over 2 years ago over 300 pages I think... so this isn't the first time these jobs have attracted so much interest...
I hope the link works0 -

Zoikes!
Seems DWP jobs are popular with MSE, or perhaps there's just no-one else that recruits nationally in such big numbers.0 -

I've certainly been waiting! I'm hoping to join the fast stream at some point and getting into a senior policy advisor role would be my ultimate goal - a lot of graduates who didn't get through the external fast stream will be looking to jump on Civil Service jobs I would think.
Also if you've had employment gaps then the application process is a lot more accessible as employment history is less relevant than in most posts. And the flexibility will attract a lot of people who are part time carer's, single parents etc I would think. And it does pay quite well in comparison to a lot of what is available so that's gotta add to the interest.
Plus all the stuff that you said:p0
