Update on the Northwest... They are hoping to have the sift input completed by 02.03.2012. The recruitment team will then upload the information onto CS Jobs & applicants should find out within 7 working days of the upload if they move to next stage and information about how to book themselves an interview. Interviewing should hopefully commence on 21.03.2012

From what I've heard there will also be an additional test at interview. This is for Northwest so other districts may decide otherwise. If you've got as far as interview stage then I don't really think this test should worry anyone.

As for the 35% passmark. this was always the case for the online test. If you got less than this you received an automatic e-mail to advise your application would not be taken any further. (Out of the 65k that applied about 33k got above this mark. It was then left to each district to decide on how they would sift further). So although you may have passed the test it did not necessarily mean you had got through to the next stage. This is determined by each districts sift strategy.

In hindsight and knowing a majority of applicants applied for multiple poss it would have made more sense for the competency sift to be done centrally, eliminating the inconsistent marking we are seeing, the results put on a central system and then each district to decide who they wish to interview according to their desired pass rates.

Good luck to all that have had interviews booked :)

  • Good morning,

Can someone please tell me what the STAR system is?
I am sure it is in here somewhere, but with 143 pages to go though, I wondered if someone could just tell me.

    Thanks :)

  • I have my interview tomorrow and I am really starting to stress out now:eek:

I have written my competancies onto postcards but I am worried about the questions they will ask.

I know there will be one for each competancy but I was wondering if they will be general or very specific. i.e if you look at the competancy framework there is an awful lot of info on there. Could they ask for example something really specific like "can you give an example of when you have resolved conflicts and tackled inappropriate behaviour"? (under building capability heading).

If so I am really going to struggle as my competancy for building capability doesn't cover that aspect.

West Yorkshire have sent me an invitation to interview. I wasn't expecting to hear anything on a Sunday so it was a pleasant surprise when I logged into my hotmail. :j
Congratulations to those who have also received invites!

    Well done Panno and Ivy.:T

Can I be cheeky and ask what your scores were as I applied for West Yorkshire and haven't heard anything yet :(

    (BTW I got 94% and 2x4, 1x5, 2x6)
What's your source for this information?

Arsh was an internal applicant for the Lancashire area so may have some 'inside' information.

Situation: What was the problem encountered. State very briefly

Task: What you had to do. (Planning) Again very briefly

Action: What YOU (very important) did. Hence the use of "I". Incorporate all the competencies required in this part.

Result: As a result of what you did - the benefits. This could be savings, customer satisfaction, increased motivation, staff morale, adhering to business objectives etc

Hope this helps and if anyone else would like to add to this, you are most welcome. I found that there is a wealth of experience in this forum coming from all fields of expertise and we can all learn from each other, ignoring the WUMs.

Still nothing showing for me. Think I have been forgotten just want to know now I'm even prepared for rejection just need to know one way or the other. Agh!!

still nothing for me either! I will keep you informed should anything happen my end. I have decided not to waste another day intermittently checking the status of my application. I am turning my computer off until later this afternoon and i'm getting out of this house! I hope that when I log on later, both of us (and the rest of the minority who are still playing this hideous waiting game!) have been told our fate....be it good or bad news!
Well done to everybody who has been invited to interview!! and good luck!....keep calm and focused, and most importantly be yourselves....and I'm sure you will all be fine!

Got my competency scores for my Welsh-speaking post in North Wales (5,5,6,7,5). What happens next? No interview offer either way. Am I supposed to have an email or something? I realise that most of you are further down the road with these applications!

Just rang the helpline. They need to decide on interview dates and then they'll let me know either way, so fingers crossed (yet again!)
