I am guessing that they haven't read them. This is an educated guess based on my friends application where the competencies were filled out with no more than 25-30 words in each box because it was done last minute. Yet they have an interview.

Judging by the last time the DWP recruited, interviewers will have your application on hand to look over before seeing you. I don't see why this won't be the case this time around.

On the interview booking thing, anyone know if it's a guaranteed thing you'll get your requested day and time or will the DWP staff accommodate around that?

Also, someone asked if the place if they get interviewed at is the place they'll work. This is not the case, City JCP is the district office for City & East London afaik. There was the Romford office which was due to close around the time I left a year or so ago, don't know if that happened.

If the 35% benchmark (in East London) is to be true, this leaves me to wonder why we all bothered with the test in the first place. The apparent 80% was pretty harsh but understandable if there were a high volume of applicants that got a little less than that but 35% is too low. 50% or higher would've been more than lenient but I guess they feel the test was not accurate enough to use tighter margins.

That is what I was told by RL when I called them earlier this week

Somethings don't need to be said out loud:) You either get it or not. Some people been there, done that, seen the video and just 'know'.............

And some people are just looking for a conspiracy around every corner :)

You and gettingready seem to be alluding that there is some form of positive discrimination going on and I'm not saying that is impossible. I'm just not sure which group you believe is intended as the beneficiaries of this discrimination or why only East London would have such targets...or why you reached that conclusion from a reported low pass mark (which the RL could've gotten wrong).

To me, the whole process hasn't seemed organised enough to carry out a "hidden agenda" even if it wanted to but maybe I'm just naive :D

The group that should not be allowed to work in such place - illiterate/innumerate with no 2 brain cells to rub together ... form of "inclusion"

Otherwiese, why, WHY on earth would the mark be set to 35%

No, not looking for any conspiracy...seen enough of those LOL

probably due to parts of east london being one of the most 'diverse'/'deprived' areas in the country...

however conspiracy theories should be probably be saved until the whole process is over. things may not be as they seem in the end.

North East London district was merged into East London district and City became the district office, Romford's district office staff were reallocated within the JCP network.

It doesn't make any sense at all given the number of applications they received - maybe the RL person you spoke to got it wrong. Or maybe a ton of applicants did much worse than whichever test group they used to set the percentiles and scored below 35%ile. Maybe some silly person in charge just arbitrarily decided upon it. They seem more likely than a hidden agenda to me.

Surely no more or less diverse and/or deprived than South London or Birmingham or Manchester who all appear to have higher pass rates? I didn't think "diversity" information was allowed to be taken into account during an open recruitment process to prevent negative discrimination.

    Agreed!
  • Do you know if they are scoring competencies? Mine are still awaiting review, not even had my South scores carried over . I don't remember if anyone has posted marks for West London

Yes, I received my scores for West London yesterday.

When I called the RL on Thursday the harassed sounding man told me West London had confirmed that 'their marks are in' and candidates will be sent the info (scores/ interview invites/ thanks but no thanks emails) by the end of this week.

Yes, me. I spent 3 or 4 days on mine and got a higher test score:rotfl: . laughing through the pain.

Yes but you won't have to spend as long prepping for your interview because you already have well written, well thought out examples :)
