DWP Recruiting Again - 2012

I don't know what mark I'd give the comments of Wandafish in a competency kinduvva way, but OTOH it matters not. Any among us who have ever worked for DWP knows that the employer bases the interview on your competency statements in the App Form, so rehearse THOSE! And sure, beef them up if your comp stats were lower than you'd like. Have an alternative version available in the notes you take to the int, and be prepared to field a curved ball or two. And you'll be fine. Don't get hung up on cack posted here.0

hi all,
I have been notified today that I have been successful and invited to interview!! Really pleased as it's been a long wait but also really nervous now.
Am going to follow this thread from now on as I read back a fair few pages and some great advice on here so far, would love to hear from people who have already attended interview now for tips and advice please. I am worried about elaborating enough on the competencies to satisfy the interviewers as there are a lot of areas that need to be covered by the looks.
oh and I defo don't think that there are anymore tests as when I had my confirmation of interview email it says its 1 hour long so that would not give enough time to do interview and tests I would have thought. Good luck to all0 -
I rumbled Wanda yesterday morning after the call centre went and checked when the interviews start for Birmingham as my partner was worried as we are going away next week and wanted to know when the interviews would start if she was successful - we were told 5th March for Birmingham. Corresponds now with another post back on page 127?
There really are some sad people around on t'internet!0 -
I really dont understand what Wanda would have to gain from lying about there being another exam or about any of it for that matter. In the mean time theres no harm in scrubbing up on your math skills again.
As for the poster who said the interview is only an hour, therefore not leaving any time for an exam... As I recall it, last time i did an exam with the DWP it was 20 min long..20 questions. 40 min is plenty of time for an interview.
We'll have to wait and see until more people actually go to interview and are kind enough to share their experiences.0 -
For the second time, I work for DWP and THERE IS NO OTHER TEST!
The interviewers will also NOT know your previous examples, although it is always best to have lots if you can. Remember, you can bring notes in and refer to them, so the more prepped you are the better.
Good luck again to those being interviewed
Edit to add interviews will be 35-45 mins long.0 -
Checked, for the first time today... still no news. Sigh..0

I can't believe I fell for a troll!! I hate the thought of tests so much and I know they would probably be enough to cost me an interview anyway
I am assuming that I scored well in my competencies as my online score wasn't exceptionally high, but I still have not received feedback for these even though I have secured the interview? Should I expect to get this soon?0 -

I think that's what Wanda was trying to achieve, get people all worked up and nervous. Take no notice, as someone said before they're not there to try and trip you up, they'll try and get the information out of you they need by a little bit of questioning if need be. Just try and be as prepared as you can be.0 -

You are probably in one of the districts where they have opted not to sift and if so your competencies will not be looked at.
Have you looked at the competency framework
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/opdelcompetencymatrix2-t619184.pdf
pages 2 and 3 have the behavioural indicators that interviewers will be looking for you to demonstrate when you give your example so just go through your examples and make sure you have covered several of these in each one and you will be fine.
If you don't give sufficient evidence the interviewers will try and ask questions to get the evidence.0 -
Parfittme, I got an interview too but mine is the day before yours so providing I remember and my brain isn't completely fried afterwards, I'll try to post on here with some advice.
I went out with some ex-colleagues from JCP last night and 2 HEOs who are on the panel for SE Wales were there. They told me that the interview is competency based (as we all kind of knew) and that they DO NOT have your application form, all they'll know is your name as the DWP feel that giving any more information could cause them to build bias against you before meeting you. There's no test and you can use your previous examples. Sadly (well for me, but maybe not for some people) none of your previous marks count towards the results now. Whether you get a job or not is based purely on your interview, not your test or application, so we need to be AMAZING at interview - no pressure then :rotfl:
Good luck everyone who has an interview, and those who haven't heard.x£2012 in 2012 - £13810
