So we need to expand and memorise our own competencies, do ANOTHER test, AND answer four more competence based questions in the desired fashion?
My interview is 11.15 Monday, I shall post as soon after as is possible to hopefully confirm whether it is as dreadful as it sounds. I'm not confident at all and I've been in the service for 21 years.
thanks and good luck:)0 -
Okay so I work for the DWP and I have asked someone sitting on the panel if there are going to be any extra tests at interview and they explicitly said no, also why lower the pass mark to 36% sift everyone and then re-do test (this just would not happen)
I also spoke to someone on the interview panel who said that they have no idea what your competency examples are, you start with a clean slate therefore they would not state 'aside from your other examples'
I've heard that there wouldn't be a new test and that you start with a clean Slate in the interview. I'm worried now I hope the test is after the interview I don't know if I would be able to concentrate knowing I'd have the interview still to go0 -
Well the person I spoke to (today btw) said you could use WHATEVER EXAMPLE you wanted.
So if you didn't do that well on the sift you could just prep another one. For me I will be using 3 from the application form and 2 fresh ones.
Also did you notice how all the questions Wandafish was asked were based around building capability!!! - how strange lol
I've done the same, completely changed the one I got a 4 for, and beefed up the rest. I assumed I was the earliest for interview (on this thread), but I'm aware that this doesn't represent the whole of the applicants! My friend in Sunderland (who is not on here) is still waiting to hear if she has passed anything yet.0 -

I agree. I really can't see that they would ask you for ANOTHER 5 comps, this is way too much. Obviously you never know but again, Ive never heard of this happening. Like you say, you can use the same OR new ones, it's up to you. Which is great when you get marked as you then know which ones to scrub up on0 -
Hi all, i can guarantee that the interviews will not involve any other tests and the interviewers will not know AT ALL your written examples previously submitted.
I'm guessing Wandafish is just a troll looking to "have fun" with people, just pathetic really.
Good luck to all those who interview!0 -
Hello Newbie here,
When I completed the online test, it explicitly said they were relying on peoples integrity to complete the test unaided, it also went on to say that further test before interview would be required for verification purposes.
I have asked my mom who is a grade 7 about these test and she said that there has ALWAYS been tests before interview which consist of a literacy test and numeracy test, also she stated that Birmingham interviews would be starting w/c march 5th and they have drafted in 350 members of staff to carry out the interviews and mann test, the panels should comprises of 2 EO's and 1 HEO they do not have access to your competencies or test results therefore you can use the same examples that you used on the application should you so wish.
I dont understand how wandafish has had an interview today in Birmingham??? very Bizzare.... Where was this interview held?0 -
Sometimes I've been made to do a DIFFERENT test at an assesment centre: like a critical reasoning type thing involving reading a load of documents, making a decision based on them, and explaining why you came to that decision - there's no wrong answer, they just want to know about your reasoning.
Some areas may ask you to think of something aside from what you've already used, just to try and put you on the spot: make sure youd haven't made up one solid example for each and to demonstrate that you really do have the skills.
Although, I've not heard anything from Birmingham at all, and am led to believe that interviews will be w/c 5th March, so, well, you know...0 -
Thankyou recent posters. It really is poor form to mess around on this sort of subject. I'm worried enough about Monday after not experiencing such a formal interview in two decades, alongside REALLY wanting this job. I know who's posts sound genuine and shall turn a blind eye to childish attention seekers. Now I have cider to drink and competancies to rehearse. Peace :-)0

You certainly don't have to memorise your competencies, you can take as many notes and paperwork in with you as you like and are welcome to refer to them as you need to. You probably should look again at your comps depending on what socre you got as they'll be looking to fill the gaps. You maybe asked for more examples though, probably an example of where something hasn't gone as expected and how you managed it is a popular one."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0
