DWP Recruiting Again - 2012

Hi guys
Just checked my competency scores its 5,5,5,6,5 and 83% on online test, don't really know where do i stand now. can i expect an interview or not. applied for northwest region. can someone please tell me if I stand any chance for an interview.0 -
Okay so I work for the DWP and I have asked someone sitting on the panel if there are going to be any extra tests at interview and they explicitly said no, also why lower the pass mark to 36% sift everyone and then re-do test (this just would not happen)
I also spoke to someone on the interview panel who said that they have no idea what your competency examples are, you start with a clean slate therefore they would not state 'aside from your other examples'
I to have been told there is no extra test. I am appalled that wanda is scaremongering everyone. I don't believe she had an interview. Especially when no one else has as Brum were having to relook at there marking again. Personally I would take everything with a pinch of salt it's not MI5.0 -
Hello all
Well going back on my word I'm going to post even though the interview was a complete train wreck.
The questions I got were kind of based based around the competencies but A lot more specific and they explicitly said 'aside from the example you used in the application..'
I had prepared other examples but the questions were so specific that I was struggling to make them fit. There was also s further test for maths and reasoning which I flunked the first time so no reason to think I'll do better this time.
Questions that I can remember: Give a time you have helped someone develop, a time when working in a team hasn't gone as planned and what you did to rectify the problem, and Give an example of how you have furthered your own development in the workplace.
There were two more but it was a bit of a blur. Oh well. Good luck to everyone else.
Sounds very familiar. Oh yes, now I remember. This was what the interviews were like in the 2009 recruitment process.
I say troll...
Please don't anyone base your interview preparation on what this poster says.0 -
Ok this would actually be funny if I hadn't had such a rubbish day.
No I'm not a 'WUM' or a 'troll'. I have just told you all what happened at my interview in the hope that it might help some people. What, exactly, would I have to gain from making up a pack of lies about my interview? If I wanted to wind everyone up I would have told you how brilliantly it all went.
God knows I got enough abuse when I said I did well on the competencies and told I was a troll. Now I'm saying I did badly on the interview and being told the same.
Ultimately believe what you want. I'm out of the running now and honestly don't care. You've all been moaning about the inconsistent messages coming from DWP for the entire process, but a couple of people say there are definitely no tests and it is definitely all based on your application and people lap it up! What would the interviewers gain from asking questions on something that's already written on paper?
For those that do want my advice: prepare more examples, make them flexible and prepare to do more tests.0 -

Not that I'm bothered either way personally, but to clear this argument you could answer a few simple questions such as;
how many questions were on this test?
how was the test titled? What kind of layout was it?
etc etc0 -

I know in the area I applied to there are NO more tests!!! Maybe there are in Birmingham I didn't apply there.
And I was told today that the people that interview you don't have access to your application form so they wouldn't know what questions were asked - again I didn't apply to this area so maybe it is different.
The DWP aren't trying to trick you or catch you out they want you to succeed. It says on the interview preparation that they you can use the competencies you prepared on your application form.
I suppose we will all find out one way or the other when we have our own interview.
Wanda - where exactly was your interview, which JCP office did you have it at? and where in the office did you sit your test?0 -
Just one more thing Wanda, did they tell you specifically which competency they were looking at, in relation to the questions you posted above?0
-
Wanda has been rumbled, thought it was strange that she seemed to know the answer to everything, even though it didnt add up to what other posters had knowledge of on here. Advice to everybody, ignore her and she will simply dissapear!0
-
could be that Wanda got one of those emails telling her she'd got an interview...then another saying it was sent in error? embarrassment perhaps? sour grapes?
Either way a very strange person...think she let emotions get the better of her in this process...
she might be telling the truth but if interviews haven't started for that area then she must be a very, very special girl.
gl all who have interviews0 -
Surly if there were additional tests they would be held in groups? for economic reasons? whats the point of test @ the JCP withput an envigilator? Also to ensure questions are not leaked giving later candidates an unfair advantage?0
