Sorry to hear that SpiralGalaxy. I suppose you don't definitely know - you could be surprised? - did you get helpful feedback?

I would be surprised if anything came of that, but thanks. :) I got two 1s and three 3s.

Some of my feedback was bang on, considering I provided only general statements about beliefs and past duties I'd carried out. Others indicated the person had skimmed my statement: they had me working at a shop, for some reason, in two of my competencies. :)

The upshot is that I expected to fail once the thread turned to the STAR framework. I'm not bitter, but I would like to provide them with feedback on their application process. They could realistically improve that.

I did the same and got an even lower score.

Wonder if it will dawn on them why so many applicants did it the 'wrong' way and lead to a revision of their application form.

Got my comp scores back and am out of the running. Hardly surprising given I didn't use STAR. But good luck to the rest of you - to be honest have found applying for the dwp so frustrating I won't be trying again. Would rather apply and have the instructions I must read provided when I fill the darn app out.

    Just had to vent, sorry.

Which area did you get your scores for and what did you get if you don't mind me asking

Aw that's disappointing - sorry to hear that. Don't blame you for being angry - this process seems to have managed to wipe out as many, if not more, good candidates than it its ever likely to capture.

Well, if anyone knows an email address I can contact to make suggestions (where someone would take the time to read it), I'll send them something.

Aw that's terrible - but it may not be as bad as you think (?) Wait and see!

Several people on here have been told that a total mark of 20 was the passmark for comps.

Hopefully by next week we will all know what's to happen next!;)

I'm nowhere near 20, I'm afraid. :) I've got other things lined up, though.

I really wanted this job to do something constructive with my life. Perhaps I'll try again in future, now I know what's expected of me - and don't mind biting my nails for a month. :rotfl:

    Mommarat,

It was for Birmingham and Solihull - scores, in order, were:

    1,3,1,3,3.

Hopefully, since the number of people posting on here probably make up 1% of all applicants and several of us (myself included) didn't use stars. There are probably tens of thousands of applicants that scored low. I can see the benefits of the system, but only with a sensible word limit or use at interview stage it's not really the best sifting tool.

    In a word - no.

Strictly speaking - CRBs are only valid on the day they are done - which is why in some places (like a top girls' college I once temped for) they are repeated every three months.

In my profession they can be 'ported' for work with other agencies provided the CRB was done within the last 6 months.

At least, if I got a job with DWP, I wouldn't have to pay for it myself!

At least you guys have had your scores back, im still waiting for mine. Not really bothered now if i get to interview or not. Just so annoyed after spending 4 days doing my competencies that they may not even get marked. Just waiting for the yes you passed the test but werent selected for interview.

Just score my bloody competencies DWP.

Hi. I don't know how to reply privately. Can you send me a message?

Both I and mommarat posted yesterday to tell you how to reply privately.

Click on MarkyMark's name where he's posted and a menu will appear. Select 'Send Private Message.'

Alternatively you can click on 'Private messages' just under the green bar (where you click to log out). When you've done that there will be a menu down the left hand side. Click on 'Send New Message'. If you want to reply to a PM just click on reply as you would to reply to a post HTH
