Still no results on my comps. Not even the brum one. I have checked every hour all day all still saying awaiting review. All the housework I had planned for today hasn't got done. Don't know if that's a good or bad thing. Lol
  • Hi :j *new poster sick of waiting same as everyone else!*
Anyone for North West had their competancies marked/application saying anything other than awaiting review?

Do you only have to do the sift test once? :T

I believe that you don't need to do it again if it's less than 6 months since the last time.

    Hi

I haven't heard of anyone from the North West getting competencies marked/feedback.

But tomorrow we'll still be checking for competency feedback :p
  • OMG!
I have to show you just how different my sift scores are in these 2 regions - apologies for the size of the message:

    Birmingham

    Building Capability - Behavioural Rating
    7
    Building Capability - Behavioural Comment
A very good example which demonstrates the required skills
Delivering a Customer Focused Service - Behavioural Rating
    7
Delivering a Customer Focused Service - Behavioural Comment
    Another very good example
    Leading - Behavioural Rating
    4
    Leading - Behavioural Comment
Very little evidence of leadership skills within this example, however leadership skills are demonstrated in managing people and performance example.
Managing People and Performance - Behavioural Rating
    7
Managing People and Performance - Behavioural Comment
    A good example
Operational Delivery - Delivering a Professional Service Rating
    4
Operational Delivery - Delivering a Professional Service Comment
An acceptable example which could be strengthened further by a more specific example

    Black Country
    Building Capability - Behavioural Rating
    5
    Building Capability - Behavioural Comment
The example quoted under this competency provided acceptable evidence of the required behaviours. The examples provided throughout the application provided very limited evidence of the required behaviours at the appropriate level.
Delivering a Customer Focused Service - Behavioural Rating
    2
Delivering a Customer Focused Service - Behavioural Comment
The narrative provided is very general in content and does not contain a specific example that explicitly demonstrates the required behaviours. The example provided concentrates on how you have delivered a customer focused service rather than how you have interacted with colleagues to achieve this.
    Leading - Behavioural Rating
    6
    Leading - Behavioural Comment
The examples shown provided acceptable evidence of the required behaviours for this competency
Managing People and Performance - Behavioural Rating
    3
Managing People and Performance - Behavioural Comment
The narrative provided is very general in content and does not contain a specific example that explicitly demonstrates the required behaviours. The evidence provided does not display evidence deploying people and resources efficiently.
Operational Delivery - Delivering a Professional Service Rating
    2
Operational Delivery - Delivering a Professional Service Comment
The narrative provided is very general in content and does not contain a specific example that explicitly demonstrates the required behaviours.

Guess i'm out of the running for the Black country then!!!

What still puzzles me is that if they initially decided they only wanted high scorers from the on-line test (numeracy, comprehension, analysis, and whatever other skills these tests prove etc.) they must have reckoned that they were essential skills for successful candidates.
Then along come the disappointing competency scores (no doubt partly due to their own failure in clearly communicating the format of what they wanted applicants to write) and now they start using a lower pass mark for the on-line tests to accommodate applicants who passed the competencies but did less well in the on-line testing.

It's as if they've moved the goal-posts they originally decided upon in order to now prioritise competency scores at the expense of the earlier on-line scores.

Competency statement scores have now become the critical hurdle to get through to an interview it seems ?

    Hi

does anyone know if applying under the Guaranteed Interview Scheme, does it mean you are guaranteed to be invited to interview if you pass the online test, or guaranteed to be marked on the competencies (thus then finding out if you have got an interview dependent on marks?). This link suggests the former: http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/rec-support-pack.pdf but I have just seen my markings for the competencies and have not quite got 4 in every one, so want to know if this is the end of the road for me :(
  • Thank you for that redsky.

It's disgraceful that there's such a difference in the scores if you used the same examples for both areas.

The sifters for each area should be using the same criteria to mark the competencies and, while it's possible to be 1 mark difference, there should be no way that an example gets a score of 7 for one area and a score of 2 for another.
