I was just thinking the same thing. Nothing for me on Birm. I'm an R.0 -
Hey.
I'm 'H' in coventry, warwick and worcs and my scores have gone on in last 30 minutes. two 7's a 6 a 5 and one 4 (Leadership - I read the competency guidance incorrectly).
I gather that if you get 4+ on each competency then you've got a decent chance of an interview invite?
Good luck all.0 -
My feedback is 4,6,4,4,4...... I have no overall rating although assume it to be an overall 4. What does that mean?
Did I pass, did I fail? Do I get and interview, do I not? Im really confused.... Can anyone explain the next stage?
Thanks0 -
you definitely 'passed'. 4 is a pass for competencies. The thing I don't know is if a 'pass' and a decent online assessment means you'll get an interview.0

Unfortunately my surname is Zebedee!!!0 -

Most people on here are saying that as long as you get 4 and over for each competency you should pass, whether or not that will get you an interview I'm not sure, it may depend on how many applicants they have at that stage.0 -
Well I'm sorry if my complaining is annoying people but I stand by what i said earlier.
Here is a picture showing you my only link and reference to the competency notes: http://imageshack.us/f/819/90347206.jpg/
it is vague, it is uninstructed. Why would you leave the civil service page to go looking specifically something that you are unaware of? I like a normal person proceeded with Civil service Page expecting vital information to be given to me at the appropriate time.
I cannot believe some people on here getting onto personal levels and telling me I’m not fit for the role and lack of efforts, with people high fiving themselves on ridiculous comments. How is writing 1000 words and doing an hour test but failing to find a competency guide a sign of “lack of effort”.
If a company has strict and specific hoops you need to jump through they should be more obvious in their needs.
But seriously why are you peopling applying for a job as an advisor to deal with the youths of today when you have the attitude of “you are unable to do the job”, Tut-tut.
I agree with you in part. I did click on the link that took you to the DWP website. But the links given there appeared pointless to click through on...
Current vacancies
Who we are
How to apply
What DWP can offer you
Careers in the Senior Civil Service
The part that takes you to the information that would have helped with the competencies is accessed by clicking "How to apply" and then "Knowledge, Skills and Experience".
Now why would you click on How to apply, when you already know how to apply - through Civil Service Jobs?
It would have been much more useful to provide a link straight to the recruitment support pack PDF along with the Competencies link tucked in at the bottom.
However, the information was there nonetheless. If you looked hard for it. When you apply for a job, you are supposed to research the company. Enough delving for information would have landed you where you wanted to be. If people were unsure how to fill out they could have called the helpline or did some googling.
I would expect a Recruitment Support Pack to be linked in the vacancy advert but if it's not you have to take initiative to find something or ask for information.
I also agree it doesn't reflect your ability to do the job if you didn't find the guidance notes. Just because you've got a story to fit the competencies doesn't mean you are any better to do the job than someone who doesn't. Some of the JCP advisers I've seen must have had very well crafted competencies which overshadow their actual ability and motivation for the job.0 -
I worked as an EO many years ago. Competencies in any job application require a scenario, an explanation and an outcome, that is how you approach showing competency. Anyone can say I can do xxx well, and I have xxx as an attribute.
I now work in education and all job roles in that field ask for competency proof. This not DWP specific.0 -

Also another thing that threw me off was the attachments because I had downloaded the Competency capability_assessment_guidance directly from the job post I thought that was all there was to it, surely they would have included everything... but no.0 -

Fair enough, but I hadn't done a competency application for a long time since the PCSO and had forgotten the rule.
To be fair anyone can write an explanation and an outcome too, it makes no difference to me in difficulty but I just didn't know because I didn't find the tucked away hidden information until it was too late. Oh well bad experience but learning experience at least.
I'm bored of my criticism with dwp now so I'm going to stop, but I am gutted.0
