Thanks for re-igniting this thread! I have just come back from holiday in Iceland, was haunted by fearful and self-loathing thoughts, particularly towards the end. I did a little mindfulness but really need to get back into the swing of it as I am finding my mind to be quite a burden at times! I'm so delighted Candy and Joyfull that you are finding solace in mindfulness, thank you for sharing your stories xx"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Sorry to hear you've been struggling Goldilockz, hope things improve.
I confess I've not made much time for meditation, these days if I sit still for long enough I fall asleep. I am however still trying to be mindful and enjoying it immenselywhen I walk the dog i take pleasure in what I see.nI am currently sitting in my conservatory watching the dog mooch in the garden and can hear the dawn chorus whilst drinking my first large coffee of the day
my life may not always be perfect, quiet or calm but right at this minute it's one of those serene moments, might as well enjoy it while it lasts
Also been doing yoga nearly every day, it's harder to focus when the kids are up and watching telly but when it's just me I am definately more focused.
Have a good day everyoneI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Just wanted to say having been inspired by this thread, I did some searching and found a mindfulness centre very close to me. So thank you for pointing me in this direction

Hi, I'm in Cheshire, my local centre is in Crewe. Yes, I will be doing the 8 week course - I can't do the one starting this month as I am away for the last two sessions, but they are going to notify me when the next course runs.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Did anybody else listen to 'Something Understood' last night on R4? It was on meditation and mindfulness and had a really interesting interview with Mark Williams as well as so much more to inspire. It's well worth a listen on iPlayer.0

hello people I wonder have any of you had a reiki treatment? If done properly your experiance should be outstanding. When crystals are used this strengthens the effects.0

this is such an interesting thread, I've just ordered the two books you recommend. I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about courses in Ireland? I've had a google but it's really hard to know whether they're good, bad or middling.
I've just been thinking a lot lately about trying to have some joy in life, it feels like so much of our environment is negative and depressing and personally I find it hard to relax and open myself up, this sounds like a really interesting mechanism to help me think about this some more. Thanks everyone for your contributions here, I've really enjoyed reading them.0
