Everybody has problems with the software it's rubbish. It never did work on one of my PCs just kept bombing out. On another it did work but was so slow it just was not worth the hassle. Sorry.0

Mine was recording TV within minutes of me opening thje box....... been working all day...... recorded some stuff off sky+ to take to work and it's all fine...
I haven't read the manual yet.....
And I think i've found everything I need so far...... including skipping to a timeslot in a film
what issues you got ?Don't forget to THANK ME !!0 -
I'm trying to convert files with the software and the software is just hanging.
I've a few avi's i need to convert....it ain't doing it tho.
The software is now back from the dead and working but is taking an age. I wonder if you could convert using something else and then dump it on the pvr?0 -
Good luck finding any other software to convert avi's to asf that this player will recognise.
It will only play video that has been encoded in MS MPEG-4 V3 and 1 channel ADPCM.
Any other variation of asf will not play.
Also any recordings made directly on the unit will be in mono sound. (crazy but true).
The supplied conversion software will also convert any avi's to asf with mono sound. (will also take forever too)
Anyone have any idea how to upgrade the firmware because there's no info about this or even if it's possible ?0 -
I can actually see this unit being returned tomorrow!0

SO much whining!
The bloody thing only cost £60. It's a bargain, end of story - so what that it can't replace your entire AV system, record in stereo WHATEVER.
Even if you only ever use it to play back 40gb of MP3, you are onto a winner. After taking mine into work, 2 other guys have bought one too - all happy.
Enjoy your bargain.

It is a bargain, i have an ipod, i just wanted it for movie playback. And i've just tried to convert a 500mb file and had to retire as it was taking way to long.
Sorry Portal, i agree with you totally....but i just wanted it for clip playback when travelling.0 -

Cool, I agree the conversion is fairly slow, it takes my PC about an hour to convert a film (in DVD or WMV format on my HDD) to ASF.
Seems worth it to me.
Now all I need to do is sort out my 15+Gb of MP3s and rename them so that the filenames only consist of the track name, and not "ARTIST NUMBER TRACK.MP3" etc, as they don't fit on the display!
Anyone got any suggestions of free software to auto lookup/rename MP3s?

The thing is, it would be an amazing bargain if the Grundig 6200 wasn't available for only £99.
The Grundig is in a league of it's own compaired to this chunky, ugly limited Goodmans.
But having said that, for a portable 40Gb mp3 and movie player at less than £60 delivered, it's a bargain.
Once someone can find a program that quickly converts divx/xvids to the asf format this player recognises, it will be a winner.0 -

I'm not too sure about that........... I've just tried to play some video on my TV.. (that I recorded last night direct off my sky box....) and it in deed only played out of one speaker.......
However, earlier today , i used headphones and audio was heard in both earpieces......... (WEIRD)
So i fiddled with the jack plug and phono leads..... and the sound now comes out of both speakers
COOL
I need to go and test the software nowDon't forget to THANK ME !!0
