Where does the time go?! Have managed to cross a few things off my list but have things that I've been meaning to do since before Christmas but still haven't made the time for.

Have withdrawn £100 from paypal and transferred it to Mortgage account 2, so £300 overpayment this month. On the downside not sure if I'm cutting things a bit fine with amount of money I have available to make overpayments and cover loss of income. Might give me the incentive to reduce outgoings even more.

Had cavity wall insulation done today so hoping along with last years new boiler I soon wont be paying £127 a month on gas & electric. Workmen were so late they turned up during nap time  Luckily little one 2 slept through the drilling. Little one 1 woke up though and wasn't happy :(

Groceries at £128/300 for February :)

Ebay at £14 so target met :T

Thanks, heating has been on less but that may have more to do with it being warmer outside!

    End of February update

    Mortgage overpayments £300
    Outstanding £83,818.56

Ebay profit (after charges and including p&p profit) £41.45 (target was £12)

Grocery challenge £294.95 against £300 target

Started sorting DVDs, not got far as got distracted with decluttering the rest of the house. Thrown 3 bags of rubbish out and donated bag of clothes to charity.
Also sorted through all my paperwork from the last year, managed to do it in one evening with help from OH :D
We have started monitoring how much gas, electric and water we're actually using as bills still seem to be going up. Being home all the time maybe we just need to except they're going to be higher than we'd like :(

    March targets

    Mortgage overpayment £240
    Grocery target £300
    Ebay profit target £7

Look into childrens bank accounts as ours have got really low interest and I'm sure we must be able to get them a better rate.

Finish decluttering and sort out the DVDs and CDs
  • If you are looking for better rates, Regular savers usually got nice rates - I just opened new one on 5%;)

First direct got a reg saver at 8%!

Also, Santandr new current account got 5% rate for the first £2500 balance.
    hope that helps.

Thanks, little ones aren't regular savers yet and they have the best rates. Will stay where we are at the moment and review again in a few months.

Haven't posted for a while as have been spending most of my free time decluttering. House is looking a lot better so really pleased with my efforts. Just need to finish spring cleaning now :)

We've both been really good at keeping our spending to a minimum and have another reasonable credit card bill total this month. Still a bit concerned about our cashflow until tied up funds become available in August. May have to reduce the amount going into the regular saver for a couple of months.

Need to list some more stuff on ebay this weekend as only made £3.42 so far this month, also going to start running again as not been since had little ones. Signed up for Race for Life to give myself a bit more motivation :j

Reviewing little ones accounts in a few months no longer needed as found a 1 year bond that I can put most of their money in at a decent rate and still keep the accounts they have at the moment for paying in anything they get given this year.
Have also started process of moving my ISA so will soon be getting over 3% on both mine & OHs ISAs. Savings are pretty much all earning more than rate on the mortgage now so not sure if I should keep overpaying. The gap between savings and mortgage isn't that large now either. If we had an monthly income that was bigger than our monthly expenditure it would all be lovely!
We finally bought a new (to us) car this week and managed to come in £1,100 under budget :) Should help with our cashflow over the next few months.
Not having a great month on ebay only at £4.45, but free insertion weekend again so hoping to improve on it :)
Looking forward to being spoilt a bit this weekend for Mothers Day, may even have a glass of wine

Oh, how I long for a glass of wine! Everybody is saying that 1 won't do any harm, but I'm so close to the due date now I'm scared baby will come out singing in a drunken voice:rotfl:

Please feel free to drink one extra on my account :D

Thanks, OH is on board as in letting me get on with it and nodding and trying to look interested when I talk about it. Probably thinks I'm slightly mad though!

Had a breakthrough on the OH front :T He thinks we can get a cheaper car that meets our needs and put the rest towards OPs, still lots of car shopping to be done but great that he's thinking about overpayments.

OH sorted out a pile of DVDs and games for me to sell on ebay which is great, but then he went and bought a game and dvd off ebay this week which have probably cost as much as I'll make

What's the saying - 'slowly slowly catchy monkey' :D. Sounds like you've really got through to him which is great :T

Thanks Gallygirl, think it was my excel house with coloured bricks for how much we own that finally got his attention :D We're up to the first floor windows so making good progress.

    End of March update

Mortgage overpayments £200 (target was £240)
    Outstanding £83,059

Ebay profit (after charges and including p&p profit) £8.04 (target was £7)

Grocery challenge £360 against £300 target

Didn't overpay extra £40 on mortgage as forgot I'd planned to pay extra :(

Decluttering completed :T but I'm sure OH could declutter a few more games and DVDs still

    April Targets

    Mortgage overpayment £300
    Grocery target £300
    Ebay profit target £25

The moving of our ISAs is complete so now earning a nice 3.10% :j Just need to get the new bonds open for little ones so they can be earning a bit more too, will do it after Easter.
Need to sort out my freezer this month as I've no idea what is lurking at the bottom of it. Keep meaning to go out there and write a list, so will do that this weekend. Hopefully that will help keep us on target this month if we can use up some of what is out there.
