Red Cabbage Salad Recipe
Cabbage Worlds Healthiest foods suggests that many of the health benefits from eating cabbage are lost with long cooking and that eating finely chopped/sliced raw or steamed cabbage is much better for you.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Shred it and bake it in a lidded pyrex dish with a chopped apple or a pear, handful of sultanas and 4 floz vegetable stock. Absolutely delicious.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Hi susy g,
Red cabbage is great in the slow cooker. Put the cabbage in with a sliced onion, some chopped apple, a tablespoon of cider vinegar, a teaspoon of sugar, two tablespoons of water and a good knob of butter. Leave it for 6-8 hours and it will be lovely.
We have an older thread with lots of red cabbage recipes that should help you so I've merged your thread with it.

Delia's recipe for red cabbage works for me.
It's great because it is SO EASY to cook, you can cook it a day or two before you need it and then reheat, and it freezes beautifully.

Hi, Suzy
I used Delia's recipe too, from the Complete Cookery Course. I just mixed chopped red cabbage with sliced onions and apples plus 3 tbsp cider vinegar, ground cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg, and some salt and pepper. I put it all in a buttered casserole and baked for an hour and a half at 160. I've divided mine up into portions in plastic bags and frozen it. It'll just be me and my parents who'll eat it on Christmas day, so I'll just defrost 3 portions.
It's funny to see this thread resurrected as I made my first post on it a year ago today:)0 -
