    You s*ds! :)

Wish I hadn't read this thread.

Now that the Slitaz web server has performed faultlessly for all these months, - ignoring the power cut one Friday, btw, also been teaching myself about ssh, xming and puTTy.

    Need a new project.

I'm just going to have to have a go with this Xboot, see if I can get the various rescue bits and pieces all on a flash drive.

What size drives are you using?
    Move along, nothing to see.

A one inch one for evenings and weekends :p But a 16Gb for the rest of the time , it holds also of others like portable apps , my cv (20bytes) , music , and numerous other useless downloads :D

Edited: 4Gb is enough for most of what I have

lol @ spud and DCM :D

I'm using a 2GB transcend stick for this project, but as I am only looking at the above-mentioned 3 ISOs, I might just squeeze it on a 1GB, will have to check on what size the avira rescuecd is. Will have to have a root round to see if I've got a half-gig one left, as I still want puppy on a stand-alone as well..

..and, as mentioned earlier, now I know it works, a rebuild with hiren's v12 instead of v15 :)

    AAAARRRGGGHHHH !!!!!!!!

    I spoke too soon.....

..whilst puppy and avira boot and work fine, hiren's bootcd only partially loads...when firing up miniXP, no links/menu folder/progs to run/etc...
so in other words, not much use at all.....I just burned the ISO onto a cd to check, and that's fine, XP loads up with all the hiren's file structure and menus, can run the applications on there, so must be something within Xboot....

    ...HELP !!! :)

You rang , OK Gunny 1st thing is Hirens 12 has problems. I have 13 .
So d/l 13 please, pretty please. Then add to Xboot using grub4dos iso emulation. Then create the USB (don't put a loader on it not needed, you already have one and it will just create an entry syslinux.cfg ) I seem to remember that you will need to copy the HBCD directory from the Hirens.iso to the root of the USB too. I use Virtualcd or Archive Mounter from Linux. HTH
    Timeout.......Waiting for User Input :p

cheers DCM :) I used hiren's v15, used the emulation mode to add it, and tried with & without a bootloader. Couldn't find an active link to previous versions of hiren's, hence using v15. I'll have another root around, but id you have a good link to v13 (that we know works) I'll give that a bash :)

...shame really, as v15 looks quite good, apart from the "pseudo-bliss" miniXP desktop.....
