Indeed so but as a generic statement defining 'slavery' I would argue my summary has far more historical and factual accuracy than the reality facing these benefits claimants - I have yet to see any historical example of a 'slave' who had the utter and complete freedom these folks have. (Oh and I have a degree in history BTW - you?)
Oh I see, you mean it's just some slaves who are different from what you have chosen as the definition intended by those who use the word. Well done. Always useful to define your way out of trouble.
Talking of definitions, what do you mean by utter and complete freedom - the ability to own property (including other slaves) and to become rich through business and prefering to remain a slave as it's so much more profitable than paying taxes as a citizen? Something like that perhaps?
(Oh and I rarely give out personal information. No doubt some of the guilty amongst you will discover why when this country has finished falling to pieces.)
Did I say it would?
Merely noting how keener you are on punishment for the victims than doing anything to prevent the situation arising.
MY point was that if people want the 'free' money to continue they have to abide by the rules. They don't have to accept the 'free' money of course, then they are free to do whatever. Alternately they could try harder to find a job.
It's not free money. They do abide by the rules or they are punished. Alternatively policies could be changed so they are offered jobs, were it not so convenient for politicians and civil servants to maintain mass unemployment. Interesting that you have no concern regarding the cost to the taxpayer of these 'training' company scams. No concerns about 'free' money for those spivs.Totally agree that job creation schemes are vital.
Obviously not the thing top of your agenda though.I don't think that we can really blame all of this on the closure of the mines and British leyland et al however. Thats a tad simplistic I feel.
How so very last century of you. The job losses arising from the wilful destruction of vast amounts of British manufacturing and other industries accounts for a huge amount of the mass unemployment that has existed since then. This is so obvious it seems even the Prime Minister more or less accepts it. Obviously globalisation, membership of the EU, and mass immigration has done nothing to help. The impending destruction of the ridiculous euro may start to do something about the last two - I'm looking forward to it though it will mean even more unemployment in the short term but you can't make omelettes...0 -
This is such interesting reading! :-)
I would like to say after many years of working I find myself jobless after redundancy. Yes, there are jobs out there, and it is an extreemly competative market, which is why people cannot apply for any old job that they are not suited as it wastes the employers time to have to sift through inappropriate CV's and applications. To say you must take any job wether you are suited or not is really saying dont bother spending years training in a particular field as you will have to take a waitress job anyway if you havent found something suitable within a given period of time. And i agree, people who have been out of work for some time do loose confidence, I believe its through reading threads like this and daily propeganda that everyone on the dole is a worthless bone idle JK watcher that confidence takes a nose dive. Bossing people around is not supportive behaviour. While everyone thinks that their taxes go to support welfare, it is only approximately 15%. While there is ignorance and propeganda that is repeated out of the mouths of those too lazy to look at all the facts themselves there will always be this divide.
Personally if I was forced into slavery for £2.00 an hour I wonder how much loyalty and dedication I would show to that employer? I also wonder how long it would be before the sniggering behind my back in the canteen would be too much for me? I believe if the government lifted the current nonsense that you cant leave a job if you dont like it and then claim benefits afterwards, there would be a lot more people willing to try jobs that they have never tried before, but dont want to be stuck there if it is completely unsuitable.0 -
I did Work Experience at Poundland 30 hours a week, I think it worked out at like £1.78 an hour...I think there was like 4 of us that were unpaid and working for them and we got to do the lovely jobs that no one else wanted to do...I finished after the 8 weeks and the manager was like "We're not taking anyone on at this time of year." I nearly said "So you need staff but you won't pay for them, you just want people to work for free?" Hmm.Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0
