perhaps it should be the 11 hours people on this post have suggested.
Or say about 16/17 weeks at 35 hours to cover a year. Or provide people with jobs and pay them the NMW - the sort of thing some countries do.get back into the swing of getting up every day
This is mostly spin put about by spivs from these 'training' companies so they can get rich on taxpayers money by doing nothing worthwhile.
1. Absolutely hating being there, dont turn up on time, do a rubbish job, etc. More hassle for the supermarket than they are worth.
Then these companies should withdraw from these indentured labour schemes.
2. Put a lot of effort in, and have therefore been rewarded with a job.
Unlikely that all those who put a lot of effort in are so rewarded. In any case it would be better for these companies to offer work trials rather than be involved with these scams.0 -

Are you aware of any employer looking to employ someone who will regard these government scams with anything but derision?0 -
My thoughts on it...
1 - Even though they're getting their JSA they won't lose any other benefits they get. So it's not just £2 an hour for some / a lot of people as they'll be getting their JSA and other benefits.
2 - It'll help some people get back into working and there's the chance some will be offered a job at the end of it.
3 - It'll also force the work shy lazy !!!!s, who don't want to work, into getting out of bed and doing something useful; instead of sponging.
4 - It's being offered to the wrong places. It should be offered to the smaller privately owned businesses who need the extra staff but can't justify the wages instead of some of the bigger companies who can afford it.0 -

Thats the attitude. Believe it or not plenty of employers would but they need assurances from the people running the scheme. No its not likely someone is going to be head of accounts for a national company after a week or two though.
This sort of set up as scheming gypsy has pointed out can benefit more than just the benefit pot. Small businesses could also receive a boost if this rolled out in a proper way. Its more likely that small businesses are going to take on the odd person rather than a large company taking 100 on at a time.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Does apearing on jeremy kyle and admitting all you do all day is smoke drugs classed as a job??0

so would you be glad for working at 2.25 a hour ( if over 25, less if your under 25) 30 hours a week for 6 months, and there is already 2 ongoing cases against this type of thing
Thats twice what I earned in my first job.
And for most it wouldn't just be that. Don't forget that most get housing benefit, council tax benefit and tax credits.
For someone getting £65 a week JSA, £100 a week HB and £25 a week CTB they'd be earning the equivalent of £6.33 an hour.0 -
I think it's wrong. Minimum wage is £6.08, yet the government are effectively forcing people to work for £2.25 per hour..
The only people doing this who would be getting paid £2.25 an hour would be a single person on JSA who lived at home with their parents rent free. Everyone else would be getting more than that because of the HB and CTB they'd be claiming.0 -
How many people live with family rent free? I don't but get no extra other than my JSANotmyrealname wrote: »The only people doing this who would be getting paid £2.25 an hour would be a single person on JSA who lived at home with their parents rent free. Do you live in rented accommodation and pay your rent and all other bills out of your JSA?0

Thats your parents decision to charge you rent and if they wish to that then they can but I very much doubt you are paying anything near what you would be if you were living in a flat on your own.
They don't pay peoples rent when they live friends or family because its a very easy to earn benefits you aren't entitled to. Most families would help each other when they are out of work (for short periods) so you could easily be claiming that you are paying rent and claiming HB when your not being charged anything.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
