Yes, but they issue two different types of card with the account a blue (online card) and a purple (offline card) they probably do a credit status check to see which you qualify for.
The difference being some places do not accept the blue card e.g. the pumps at the petrol stations :-(0 -
Lith, I'm curious, do you really need another bank account? Are you collecting them or something? From your Sig and previous posts, you only seem to use 2 of the accounts you already have, I don't understand why you'd want another one, its not as if there are any incentives attached to them.
But to answer your question, Natwest do seem to be quite fussy about who gets the purple offline card, although there doesn't seem to be any consistency to their logic, as some people who have overdrafts and cheque books, have the blue online card. It's all down to if the computer says you can have one or notDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0 -

Dammnnn.
And even have a cheque book with the card as well. So frustrating.
Spoke to Natwest just now the person I spoke to hasn't got a clue. We only do one type of card (visa debit card) what does an online card mean?

Online card means that the transaction will only be authorised when they can do an online check that there are funds in your account. This appears to rule out pay-at-pump petrol station transactions and paying on the train.
These appear to be blue in colour whereas the full cards are purple.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I tried to order the 'purple card' but no luck at all.
Some staff @ Natwest just don't know which is silly.

I was told you will get the purple card if that's the one you are allowed and if you are rejected for that one it is virtually impossible to get it. If you apply in branch they can see straight away what you can get and can appeal it, but once the application stage is past there is nothing they can do.
I had to apply for a whole new account just to get the purple card and a cheque book!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
