Decided to ditch Ryanair, and use easyjet, any recomendations on what is the best hand lugage.
Debenhams are selling their TRIP ones for £40, but ideally would like cheaper.
Thanks

Read this....
Thanks to the OP for this, I've just picked up one of the 51cm / 20" cases, thought I'd post some extra info.
Firstly, the quality doesn't seem all that bad to me, it's fairly basic, but as somebody who will probably use it half a dozen times a year, I reckon it will be fine.
Second, the dimensions seem particularly useful to use as airline hand luggage. When 'compressed' the case should fit the Bmibaby/Ryanair size of 55x40x20, but you can expand it to take advantage of the bigger 55x45x25 size used by most other airlines. I've measured the case myself, as follows:
Length: 57cm (including wheels). Hopefully you'd get away with this, as the extra 2cm is just the handle on the top of the case. If the worst came to the worst you could probably remove the handle, which would reduce the length to 54cm (still including the wheels).
Width: 40cm max (including the handle)
Depth: Normally 19/20cm, expands to 25/26cm.
Weight: 2.85 Kg on my scales.
Capacity: The label states the case is 51x19x34.5 which calculates to the 33.4 Litres stated on the label. Using the expanded depth of 26cm would give 45 Litres.
Here's a few photos to give you a better idea what the case looks like.
Hmm... maybe I've got a bit carried away with all this detail... it's just a suitcase!Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0 -
:laugh::laugh::laugh:Haha I love the detail you have gone to, Thanks, except now I can't find the 20 inches (case), story of my life - lol !!0

I recently bought from https://www.rightsizecabinbag.com
Size suits most airlines and they're lightweight at just under 3kg. Good quality case, planning to get one for DH before next holiday.

pigeonpie, thanksnfor the tip on this item, but do you have one of these? If you do could you let me know the height please? The catalogue name would suggest 56cm but the description states 49cm.
Thanks

Sorry, but these posts are missing the point.
The beauty of flying with easyjet is that you get a bigger bag than ryanair and there is no weight restriction as long as you can lift it into the overhead lockers. So which bag will maximise the volume for easyjet ?( theoretically around 50% more than a permitted ryanair bag). I'ved devoted some energy to this and still don't have the perfect answer. You can buy lightweight nylon bags on ebay to fit ryanair (55 x 40 x20, theoretical max capacity = 44l) and they're good if you don't overfill them. But with the easyjet dimensions ( 56 x 45 x 25, theoreticl max capacity = 64l), it's difficult to find something that takes advantage of the full size, especially the 45cm dimension. An expanding suitcase will help in some situations with the 20cm/ 25cm difference, eg if you fly out with ryanair and fly back with easyjet. Jet2 also have the same more generous dimensions as easyjet, though a 10kg limit applies.
Oh, and to the earlier poster, do NOT assume you will get away with 56 or 57cm on ryanair. V expensive mistake to make.
So who can find the perfect easyjet bag? Surely the truth must be out there. If not, there's a terrific opportunity for somebody to produce one.Hope is not a strategy.0 -

I see your point and I'm all for taking full advantage of the allowance, but the airlines are giving maximum dimensions, not setting a personal challenge.
In all fairness, the difference in cubic capacity between Ryanair and Easyjet (200 cubic centimetres) is the equivalent to (about) the size of a Rubics Cube, so for me its not a viable option to buy a specific bag for a specific airline.I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0 -
Best to get the smaller size, that allows you flexibility to fly with whoever goes where you want, when you want, at the price you want.0
