90% off !!
Never that much discount in my local store, they'd rather bin it.
Me and the Mrs were in there sunday 15 mins before closing and the most discount we could find was 25% off.
Edit: Apart from veg, we have had 10p potatoes
I think it varies both store to store and individual managers, I struck lucky last night as the whoopsie fridge was rammed as I was looking thru the manager and a lad came up and the manager said 90% off, I got loads of goodies0 -
Morming all and HC (not sure if you get up any earlier than usual while staying at your mums.
)
Forgot to say in all the emotions of last night my store had big 350g bags of Doritos RTC 67p, tangy chesse and cool flavour. Be careful though as I found some were dated 24/12/11 but plenty with shelf life until feb 2012, did not go overboard though as even that will soon be with us.
Can't believe the nestle purple bars still scanning 67p even though in big red signed clearance section. I really do think Mr T plays games with us, well not us other unsuspecting shoppers who have no idea the pricing tricks he plays. I just think they let themselves down as the shops just start to look really messy as things hang around for ages. Unlike Sainsbobs, Boots and even Asda who do big blanket reductions, messy for couple days but all cleared and tidied up, nothing dragging on.
Off to hospital with mum in a bit, she has a CT scan booked. I will be really surprised if the cancer has not spread further by the amount of pain she has been in lately and how much more unsteady she is but we will see. Just want her to be more comfortable, morphine was increased again tuesday and seems to have helped. It is not nice seeing a loved one deteriorate and I mean our animal friends too. Will be thinking of you blondynurse and hope today is a bit brighter for you 3dogs.0 -

Hugs to 3Dogs and Blondynurse
This story has helped me each time I have had to say goodbye to my 3 furbabies, I hope it can also bring some comfort to both of you at this sad time:-
Subject: A Dog's Purpose
A Dog's Purpose (from a 6-year-old)
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old
Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners Ron, his wife, Lisa,
and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and
they were hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family
we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the
euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.
As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be
good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure.
They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker 's
family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for
the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on.
Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.
The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any
difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's
death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are
shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped
up, "I know why."
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next
stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.
He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good
life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?" The
six-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so
they don't have to stay as long."
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply
Speak kindly.
Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
Be always grateful for each new dayHandle every stressful situation like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it ....... just pee on it and walk away.0 -

Well, the vet agreed that it was time for us to say goodbye to our little Bonnie, and we stayed with her till the end. She looked so peaceful, just asleep, and relaxed. To have put her through investigations, scans, possibly an operation, meds etc would have been cruel at her age. Still we have so many great memories of her over the 12 years she's been with us. We got her from Wood Green animal shelter on 9th July 2000, when she 'chose us' and they said this was her last chance of a new home as she'd been out twice before, but I can honestly say she is the best dog we have ever had in so many ways
They called her the 'ball dog' at Wood Green as she absolutely loved balls/toys of any kind, but especially football - she could dribble and head the ball with such skill, all the kids were astonished at her. And she loved swimming, even in icey water. When we stayed on the Ring of Kerry about 8 years ago, she had a daily swim in the river at Kenmare, and when we stayed near Tipperary a couple of years, she swam in the river at Cashel, climbing up onto a rock, diving in, swimming round, then out and back onto the rock to dive in again, and again - with a big smile on her faceSuch happy memories and 16 is a good old age
This pic is of her when she was at her healthiest, top weight of 7.5 Kgs. She was underweight at about 6.5 Kgs when we got her, and 6.6 last weekR.I.P. dearest Bonnie 1996 - 2012
Absolutely speechless...
Im so sorry, but I always say, they know when its time..
We lost ours in August, it wrenched our hearts, thank god we have another 3, but still they never replace the loss.
Ours was only 8 and she was such a pain in the back side, always being naughty, which is why we miss her so much..
Be strong and never forget, no one will ever take away your memories..
Hugs to those who's lost loved one,s.. I could never imagine how it would feel to lose a child, and I hope I never get to experience it.
My Grandmother lived until she was 97, she had lost 2 son's before she passed away. She kept telling me how unfair it was that she was allowed to live so old and her children were dying so young..
What a powerful reading... I think its time HC came back to bring a smile back to our faces...0
