We have the other two and, although we never meant to have 3 in the first place as 2 is a better number pack-wise, if another doggie comes knocking, looking for a new home, I wouldn't hesitate :D

Thanks so much for all the lovely messages and the poems have been beautiful. A friend, Beanielou, posted the rainbow one on my DFW Diary thread tonight. I hadn't heard it before and thought it was lovely, as are the others posted on here tonight. Thanks guys, it is so good to have somewhere to share these things :A

Blondynurse, I will be thinking of you tomorrow hun. Oddly, I read up on the internet when the vets gave me Bonnie's blood results and probable diagnosis, and found that Bonnie's actions over the past couple of years matched the symptoms so closely. Drinking more water and wee-ing anywhere anytime are the more obvious, but lack of co-ordination, change in temperment, greed/hunting for food, yapping for no reason ...... all things Bonnie started to do and all listed there. It would seem that Bonnie probably had either renal disease or cushings disease which is a small tumour on the pituitary glands which affect the brain, thus leading to all these changes. Treatment can be simple, but the cancer-type drugs used can have very bad side-effects, so I was not willing to put Bonnie through this, especially as the vet said that she might not end up with a good quality of life still even after that treatment. So glad you told your kids though, they will thank you for that and understand why the decision was made (((hugs))) hun

It has been a downer night on the thread, but the spirit of the community here has once again been highlighted

Frequent & tazmac25 - how terrible to have buried daughters :(:( My nephew was killed by a train when taking a shortcut over a railway line 17 years ago. He was only 21 and my sister and brother-in-law have never been the same since :( It is so hard to cope with a loss of a young life. I remember 9 years ago, when I took Bonnie and my then little boy Billy (not the one we have now) out for a walk and had locked the back door, but turning to find a stray English Bull Terrier and two Boxer pups coming round the couner of the house. Things get a little vague from this point but the bull terrier grabbed Billy by the neck and started to shake him. Billy was squealing, Bonnie was keeping out of the way best she could, as where the boxer pups and I was hitting the bull terrier on the head with the handle of the retractable lead and then with a plank of wood. The squealing stopped but he didn't let go. Instead he tried to make off with the now dead Billy so I hauled on the nylon cord of the lead, burning my hands, and he evetnually dropped Billy, who I picked up and, keeping Bonnie as close to me as possible, unlocked the door and got back inside. This is the most horrific thing I have ever gone through, and I remember saying many times that night and in the following days, 'If it's like this losing Billy, I can't imagine how it must have been, and still be, for my Sis and B-i-L, losing their only son, especially the way they did. My tears have started again. I have kept them in mostly today as Mr 3Dogs was so distraught, I felt I needed to stay strong for him :o

Oh dear, instead of picking the thread up, I have dragged it back down into dispair again. Sorry for that. Only good thoughts of Bonnie now. And good vibes for glitches at Mr T tomorrow. dog food would be nice :)

Night Night all, I am worn out, but thanks again for all your pm's and messages on here - you guys are amazing - this thread is amazing - but we still need HC back

bless you hun, you sound like you heart of gold, so sorry to hear of the trauma you have been through, and your family.
look after yourself darling you deserve it, Thankyou for sharing your storys tonight, i have found it all so warm and cosy and tremendously supportive overnight xxxxx

Morning guys - well I didn't go to bed until about 4 am and didn't get to sleep until about 5.30 and the alarm went off at 6.30 am  We have had our breakfast and just sitting having a cuppa before going out

It was very quiet in our house last night and this morning - it just goes to show us how much mindless yapping poor Bonnie did, all part of her condition we now know. Still, other 2 dogs are ok though Billy checked Bonnie's bed this morning :(

Back later, and thanks again everyone :A

    For 3dogs and Blondynurse

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body begins quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

That is lovely it's set me of crying again glad only me and my doggy live here.
