Well, the vet agreed that it was time for us to say goodbye to our little Bonnie, and we stayed with her till the end. She looked so peaceful, just asleep, and relaxed. To have put her through investigations, scans, possibly an operation, meds etc would have been cruel at her age. Still we have so many great memories of her over the 12 years she's been with us. We got her from Wood Green animal shelter on 9th July 2000, when she 'chose us' and they said this was her last chance of a new home as she'd been out twice before, but I can honestly say she is the best dog we have ever had in so many ways

They called her the 'ball dog' at Wood Green as she absolutely loved balls/toys of any kind, but especially football - she could dribble and head the ball with such skill, all the kids were astonished at her. And she loved swimming, even in icey water. When we stayed on the Ring of Kerry about 8 years ago, she had a daily swim in the river at Kenmare, and when we stayed near Tipperary a couple of years, she swam in the river at Cashel, climbing up onto a rock, diving in, swimming round, then out and back onto the rock to dive in again, and again - with a big smile on her face :D Such happy memories and 16 is a good old age

This pic is of her when she was at her healthiest, top weight of 7.5 Kgs. She was underweight at about 6.5 Kgs when we got her, and 6.6 last week

What an absolutely beautiful dog and tales of a beautiful life that you shared together. May you take comfort in the happy memories and the knowledge that little Bonnie is now in peace. Thinking of you Mrs and Mr 3Dogs (and of course your other little doggies who no doubt will also be feeling the loss :() :Axxxxxxxxxx

Have tried 4 large sainsburys but barely a clipstrip to be found in the whole store! Would love to find some of the catfood.

A friend of mine is trying to catch ferral cats to get them nutered and they seem to be very partial to treats like these, he got 3 last night using these but 2 were ones that had already been fixed greedy wee sods :rotfl:

  • Feeling very sad along with everyone else here to hear about the doggies and everyone else's memories of their beloved pets. I too have been in that position and I think it helps to have such a supportive and empathetic environment in which to vent your sorrows. And it's been lovely to see a lot of new names come out in support too. grouphugg.gif

You could get a cat with FIV, the RSPCA rehome them on assisted adoption so they pay all the medical costs and because of their condition, they have to be kept indoors so only rehome to upper floor flats.

Just something to look into if you did want a pet, a lot of these cats are in the homes for a while because they can't find suitable adoptees, you sound ideal x

It's some new lenses he is after but I don't understand any of the terms or anything at all really :o His basic lens I think he said 18-35 or 55 maybe? has broke it's just about usable but when you focus or something it clicks and you have to catch it on the click... and so he is looking for something to do with that, but then he mentioned an 18-135 and I zoned out...so I basically have zero idea I just let him get on with it! If he isn't too drunk on returning home I will ask him and drop you a PM if ok?

    yeah of course.

I don't know what type of photography he is into etc.

What I would say is this, for any amateur snapper like me who likes to have a good think about his pics and try to improve but doesn't want to break the bank then he could do far worse than one of the new bridge cameras.

Don't go for the latest incarnations as they are just after your money. Last years models are brilliant and will cost nothing in comparison.

I have narrowed down my search to the point where I'm pretty sure what to go for, a fuji HS20....230 quid and just look at the spec!!! Look at the lens range!!! :)

Most of the pics i've posted were taken on either a fujo f31fd (donkeys years old now) or a panasonic FZ38 (160 quid new now).

I would stop and have one with you but got a bit carried away with my shopping tonight. Got 2 of the chinese meal deals, so 4 mains and 4 of the £3 sides thanks to the OP, and lots of whoopsies and forgot fridge was already quite full. So I am going to have to go back round my mums tonight and borrow some space. :o

It's been sat in the porch (pretty cold out there) for last few hours while I caught up with you all, I just could not tear myself away. Everyone being so supportive you are all such amazing people. :T

Won't be back later so goodnight everyone. :)
  • OMG have spent the last hour crying for everything I've lost in the last year and the poor wee doggies and their families.
Still have tears running down my face as I type haven't had a good cry in over a week just think I block a lot of it out then go on auto pilot.

I think rescue pets make the best because they may have suffered at the hands of humans but they give you a chance to redeem our race by letting you in and love them and they love you in return.
I know both my dogs love me but my puppy boy (a pound dog) shows it every time he sees you, he forgets he's not tiny but built like a tank and jumps straight at you as if he hasn't seen you in months, showers you with kisses and the tail, oh how it wags I always tell him that one day it'll fall off :rotfl: I think it's because he doesn't want us to forget him. He's a boxer cross and would be a totally different animal without that tail.

My puppy girl on the other hand knows I'll always be there, I'm her mum she remembers no other. I have had her from she was 6 weeks old, my late DH got her for our 11th anniversary. She was born on the 2nd August 2010 and is the best present I've ever got I don't know what I'd do if I lost her.
She's my 1st dog so is doubly special. Her mum was chucked out when they found out she was having pups so in a way she's a rescue too but knows nothing but love.

I got my puppy boy while I was feeling very down after DH died, I may have regreted it for a few days because he didn't get on with the other dog but knew I could never send him back. It may have taken a few months for things to settle down along with losing a few dinning chairs and a sofa but I now am glad he chose me, could you have resisted this sad face??

I just can't wait to get into my own house so I can have all my babies with me again, a house isn't a home without a pet to love
