It is ok to return a DTD item that has been clearly marked on the receipt. I have done it when I got a couple of Barbie Dolls marked up at £12.50 but charged £25 (sure lots of mse'rs know the ones!). I returned one & got a refund no probs :D

That's very interesting, can I ask did they refund you £12.50 or the £25?

And did you say it was faulty or just changed your mind?
    I am pleasantly surprised!

    Lemon Drizzle Cake

    2 Eggs
4 oz soft margarine at room temp
    6 oz S/R flour
    1 tsp baking powder
    6oz castor Sugar
    4 tbsp milk
Finely grated rind of 1 lemon

    Icing
    juice of 1 lemon
    4oz castor sugar

Mix all the cake ingredients together and put in a lined cake tin. Cook 1 hr at 170 degrees

When cooked pour over icing mixture and allow to soak in.

Thanks for the recipe Purdita - can I just ask what size cake tin you use and what type of oven you have?
I've just made one in an 8" tin and it was well cooked after 40 mins at 160 degrees in my fan oven so didn't risk leaving it in longer.
It looks yummy - hope it cools quickly cos my mouth is watering :)

DTD is only a Ts policy - their way of 'making up' for the fact that they have overcharged you..a goodwill gesture if you like....it DOES NOT affect your statutory rights.

Therefore, on the back of your reciept it says if you change your mind you can return the item within 28 days (unused/in same packaging etc etc)....so you can do this, technically without having to give any reason, other than you've changed your mind.

H/O will advise you of the same thing if you have any problems in store....they will also state that your refund will be the amount that the item scans at ...so if it scans at the higher price now, then thats what you'll get...if it scans lower than the amount it originally shouldve been (ie because its now in the sale), then you will still get back the amount you paid as per your reciept.

I've taken items back that I've actually been paid to take ot of the store - once because the item was faulty and once because the item was a gift for my mum (phone) and she'd already been and bought the same one. Both times I had no problems and despite various things scribbled across the reciept, I got the full amount back as a refund both times.

If you feel uncomfortable using the receipt, then just take the item back and say it was an unwanted present - they should give you a giftcard for the value instead.

    hth :)

Well you learn something new everyday, turns out a "stupid" question just earned me an £80 profit:eek::eek::eek: Goodbye straighteners it was nice knowing you...won't be taking them back to the same store though!!

I did honestly think it would cause a super-trouting at CS but you have spurred me on...love this place I really do!:D

anyone else confused which is the boots thread and which is the tesco thread right now lol?!:rotfl:

Celebrate you naughty girl slipping back into your old ways, but we're glad;):T:T:T
Forgot to say the SA couldnt get my No 7 voucher to take £5 off the sale No 7 kit I had :( Not to worry Im happy with my lot!

Regarding our absent friend, do you think it would help if we emailed Martin himself with our plight. I do feel there has been a serious injustice and the way it has been handled is close to cyber bullying, if this was a real place it wouldnt of happened, I wonder if Tesco's would be so willing to eject someone with tourettes for example. I cant understand how the mod's dont see his Aspergers as a contributory factor to how he deals with things and for this reason I feel that they are being discriminatory.

    That was my thinking;)

    Agreed!!!!!

Just back got a few more bits and my best vitamin glitch was paid £2 something, saved £31.99:T:T:TUsed £5 off voucher each time, I've got a fab stash of N07 stuff now. Can say this because I went to loads of Boots today so no one knows which one it was;)But a lovely SA heard me talking to my mum about the best way to use the £5 voucher and whispered to me do you need some. I said yes please and they handed me 6!!!!!!! Got to love a good SA, they said it's fine, half the people we give them to don't take them:eek::eek::eek::eek:
    Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:

I have had both results in the same store.

My understanding is that you should get a refund of the amount you should have paid - the 'official' scan amount, not the amount it wrongly scanned at.

I bought a £30 item but was charged £60 so got a DTD of £60 and then returned the item for a refund of £30.

Last time I did this the CS Manager refused the refund saying I had already had a refund (the DTD) so I called HO who said the Manager was wrong and they posted me a giftcard.

HO also allowed me to keep the item by way of apology for the Manager incorrectly refusing the refund.

Sometimes though, the staff in the store get confused and have been known to give a refund of the amount showing on the receipt - the amount you actually paid - in this case it would have been £60.

IMHO it is not worth raising your profile too much so if in doubt, ring HO rather than argue in the branch.
If you're not scared, you're not paying attention

I used a loose bottomed 7" round tin so the cake would have been a bit deeper than yours.
I did it at 160 degrees too and probably for about 50 mins as mines a fan oven....but I copied the recipe as I'd written it down and this was probably before fan ovens were even invented!!.
I think most of us can tell when a cake is cooked but if you are unsure, test it with a fine skewer and if it comes out clean, it's done. If it's still a bit sticky in the middle give it another 5 mins and test again.

If you find your sugar glaze doesn't crystalise as much as you'd like, save a little of the lemon juice and mix with some icing sugar to a thickish consitency and pour this on top
My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.
