Speaking of playground games, has anyone ever played boomeraka?

Elastic bands attached together to form a huge hoop. 2 kids go in side the circle with it at ankle length and pull it tight with legs astride.
Kids queue up to play the game. One at a time they say boomeraka boomeraka in out on, jumping over the elastic which is raised to calf, knee, thigh levels etc?

Sounds complicated but it is such a fun game.

I might introduce it to the kids group actually!

Right, better cut up the snapping now. Off on a field trip, yay!
    (NOT BOOTS!) :)

Yes! exactly that, but we called it french elastics, we used elastic rather than rubber bands, would get our mums to buy a few yards and sew it into a loop.

All the girls took turns, starting at the ankle etc, just like you said. We had different combos of moves 'on, slip, skip.out' etc if the player did a move wrong, they were out, then came the next round when the elastic went up to the next height!

We also did two ball against the wall with lots of different songs, and ofcourse lots of handclapping rhymes with partners or in bigger circles!

....and cats cradle with pieces of wool!

Morning all. Does anyone know how to change your username on here please?had a look in options in user cp but cant find it. Realised that my user name being my own name and my native village gives away too much and as we know people from here have been quoted in the sun paper. Dont want to be famous for wrong reasons
You need to contact the forum team.

  • it was called french skipping in our neck of the woods - funny how so many games have slightly differnt names depending on where youre from.
did anyone else do the tennis ball in a sock game where you stood with your back to a wall singing rhyms while you swung the ball around over your shoulders between your legs and side to side etc bouncing it off the wall (cant remember the words to the rhymes)
i was rubbish at "two balls" but my mates were brill at that - where you sang while bouncing two tennis balls off a wall and catching them sort of like juggling against a wall.
