jumblejack wrote: »Speaking of playground games, has anyone ever played boomeraka?
Elastic bands attached together to form a huge hoop. 2 kids go in side the circle with it at ankle length and pull it tight with legs astride.
Kids queue up to play the game. One at a time they say boomeraka boomeraka in out on, jumping over the elastic which is raised to calf, knee, thigh levels etc?
Sounds complicated but it is such a fun game.
I might introduce it to the kids group actually!
Right, better cut up the snapping now. Off on a field trip, yay!
(NOT BOOTS!)
Boomeraka was called American skipping in my school days.
It was a good game tho.0 -

Hi all you elite 11-plussers (and lurkers), especially HC; hope you're keeping well, young man.
First off, hugs to all those with aches, pains and other ailments; same to those with sick loved ones.
To those posting pictures of food: Stop it, I'm on a wife imposed diet!
Loving all the nostalgia stuff. I was born in 1961 so pretty much remember everything that's been posted. It's amazing how difficult it is to get kids to believe what we had (or didn't have) back then. Mrs OB and I have serious problems convincing our daughter that there once was a time when we didn't have CDs, DVDs, Xboxs, Wii's, etc. She thinks we're just winding her up.
Been working all the hours of the day since New Year so had no time to come here, except for the odd skim read. No way on this Earth I could catch up completely. Got a day off today, and Mrs OB has given me a list of things to do (so not really a day off)... including a visit to Mr T's, so will post anything I find later.
I will just add before going back to catching up for a bit that I have been most touched by the affection and support shown by all the 'elite 11+' for our friend HappyChappy84. :T :T
As a Moderator and Admin on a couple of 'techie' boards on the net I regularly see first hand 'disciplinary' cases like this. I know that lifetime bans must always be the very, very last resort. I'm quite shocked to see that the forum team have decided a lifetime ban is appropriate in Happy's case, especially given of some of the abuse I see posted (over and over again) by the same old faces in some of the other areas of the board; the Benefits, Praise and Vents, and Discussion Time boards, in particular.
Come on, Forum Team, same rules for all, please.Let the young fella back on the board.
Come back soon, HC, you're sorely missed by many.

If you are not paying for it, you're not the customer; you're the product being sold.0 -

Morning all. Does anyone know how to change your username on here please?had a look in options in user cp but cant find it. Realised that my user name being my own name and my native village gives away too much and as we know people from here have been quoted in the sun paper. Dont want to be famous for wrong reasons0

Much better and safer to just post about coupon use fully within the Ts and Cs.
Good luck to everyone braving the Boots sale - and hugs Issyc that it is not online this year - I feel the same.
Thanks for explaining this.
I am off to a counselling session regarding the lack of a Boots online sale.0 -
I did that too, as well as collecting hemlock () and elderberries/flowers. Like you, a local chemist bought them. I used to gather sackfuls of hemlock at the time.
For those who don't know what a only a few(:() of us are talking about the following link may be entertaining?

Just back from my first Boots sale and was pleasantly surprised at how calm and friendly it was:). Some of the posts on the Boots thread had me a bit worried but, apart from a bit of trolley nudging, it was fine. We must be a lot friendlier bunch in this neck of the woods than in some parts:D Doors opened early and I got everything that OH wanted:)
No Mr T for me today, off to hospital soon for physio, tax returns to start before the end of the month deadline:( then preparing a potato and leek gratin to use of some of the philly mountain in the fridge:)Awaiting a new sig0 -
Oh dear, I only over to the Boots 75% off sale for a few bits, and I ended up spending £99
On the plus side I have stocked up on pressies, and enough smellies to last me the entire year.... and I met the lovely Tinyshoes in there.0
