My nearest branch of bank is 45 mins drive away. it has just taken me 2 hours though to cash some cheques.
I want to switch but all my direct payments, standing orders etc are all set up with them so if we switched our banks to one with a local branch, would I have to manually let everyone know or do they do everything for you.
I think that natwest are currently offering £100 to switch. At least, that is what the advert said in their window this morning.
Hi JJ
I am a bit of a current account tart and switch whenever there is a good enough incentive - have just switched to Co-op for their £200 switch sweetener, but would happily move again later if something else decent is on offer.
Check the t & cs with whoever you want to move to and make sure they will sort all the DDs etc for you - most do, you just sign a form/give online authorisation. These things rarely go to plan (from a phasing/timing point of view) especially if you have a lot of SOs/DDS, so check if they offer an interest free overdraft for the initial period - usually 3 months. Payees (mortgage, utilities, etc) are very used to people changing their accounts and are geared up for it.
Also check their t & cs for their "when things go wrong" bit and what they will do if the timing is out and it is their fault, eg paying any charges incurred at the previous bank arising directly from the switch - again, most do.
I was very worried the first time and it hasn't always gone smoothly, but if you anticipate the odd hiccup and are quite relaxed about it, then it really is pretty straightforward. It all gets sorted out sooner rather than later - just keep a close eye on all transactions in the early months. And in your case the benefit of having a local branch sounds as if it would make it very worthwhile. Good luck.0 -

I see AWT has apologised and is going to seek treatment???!!!
Worral Thompson has since apologised for his actions. In a statement released on Monday, the celebrity chef said: "I am so sorry for all my recent stupid and irresponsible actions. I am of course devastated for my family and friends, whom I've let down and will seek the treatment that is clearly needed.
"I am not the first, and I certainly won't be the last person to do something without rhyme or reason - what went through my head, only time will tell."
"Of course, I must also apologise sincerely to Tesco, with whom I'm had a long and genuine working relationship, and to all the staff at the Henley branch, many of whom I've got to know over the years.
Once again, I am so sorry and hopefully in the future I can make amends."life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.0 -
Not a great lot going on in Mr T's C@rm@rth3n. The price checker was broken so there wasn't much I could do!!
However OEP have got 3 for 2 operating once again. Before everyone starts looking like Mexican food freaks, its working perfectly, BUT they are also operating 2 dinner kits for £4. So effectively by buying 3, you are being overcharged.
As well as this, the Mexican wedges seasoning is 17p each and 3 for 2!!0 -

Pah! Rang again today...gave my details and they have my 1st call registered so couldnt tell any porkies! Instead I just advised them I'd take it further if necessary as wasnt happy spending petrol having to go back and forth, plus purchasing a new remote etc....the chap was sooo lovely...he decided to refund me £20 (despite me telling him remote was only £15)...for the inconvenience!! Bless him...he even congratulated me on getting the free DVD in it and told me a bit about the film! So all in all a blu-ray player...Smokin Aces DVD...for £4.50 profit
first time (well it took 2 calls) I've ever rang CS to complain so was very chuffed at the outcome!hoping for a very MSE Ts glitching 2012!0 -
