Not boring me!! Anyhoo, it's all healthy conversation.

If the topic needs to move on, I have an idea...

What MSE thing do you do that you would probably only confess on here but never in real life????

I'll tell you mine. I did it this morning.

The vacuum suction was weak so I knew that the bag must be full.

I got the bag out and emptied it out of the hole that the hose connects too. It is a mucky job which calls for finger dexterity and takes 3or4 mins but it saves the price of a replacement hoover bag!!!

I have to confess that apart from getting bargains/glitches I'm not very MSE :o:o:o

unless cycling to work to save money counts? :o (ok to get fit too but mainly to save money :p)

I'm generous with electricity and water, don't really recycle, I buy something if I REALLY WANT it and so on... :o:o:o lots to learn

Well done tazmac n fourp. Good menu at the bar tonight :T

I LOVE sausage casserole. Mum used to make it real nice.

There would have been more on the plate but we have inhaled 7 of them between 4 of us before they had even cooled xx

I'm back! Disappeared again, as usual :rotfl:Went to get dressed...yes I was still in my pj's at 2pm....it's sunday, it's allowed! :D Then I decided it was time for a whoopsie hunt. Normally in my locals Sunday afternoon isn't the best for whoopsies as it's incredibly busy and all the good stuff goes more expensively than I'm willing to pay ;):p Anyway I had to get out the house so nothing ventured, nothing gained and today, much was gained!! :j

    Mr T's up first:
    3 packs of sandwiches = 40p (20p+10p+10p)
    Finest triple choc shortbread= 25p (my favourite:D)
    200g pack German smoked ham = 20p
Value peanut butter = 36p (whoopsied because of cracked lid but I used up mine yesterday so just popped that lid on it ;))

    Then Mr A's:
Massive crowd around whoopsie section so my eyes light up and I do my best to squeeze in! :D Reductions were on bacon.
    4 packs of unsmoked back bacon (£2.66 down to 10p) = 40p
    2 pack free range chicken legs (£2.92 down to 10p) = 10p

    Mr M's:
    4 pack Best crusty rolls = 9p
Heinz tomato sauce 400g = 79p (whoopsied for cracked lid)
The Best pack of 4 dips = 19p
Sunblush tomatoes from the fresh counter = 29p (which upon looking at my receipt, weren't scanned so FREE!)
And a humongous fresh cream and rasperry sponge = 9p!! (whoopsied from £4)

    Total = £2.87 :T:D:j

Yes Fudge_cake, all the various grocery threads are useful. I tend to skim read, and take on board, ideas that I think we would work for me.

It's really all about forward planning. So that you don't have to buy items when they aren't on offer, and to know the prices of what you want.

I've no Aldi/Lidl, A's or S's nearby. But can access a Co-op, Home bargains, B&M. I have a "price limit" for items, such as chocolate bars, crisps, a wash, must be less than 10p, or they're not bought!

eg, Last item I bought from Home Bargains was pack of 12 oxo cubes. Price there, 49p. Price at A's 98p, T's 97p, or if buying 2, works out at 75p.

    Forward planning everyone :)

Completely agree midwinter. I'm very lucky with my location that I have 4 of the major supermarkets within walking distance (although they aren't large stores) which makes it very easy for me to shop on a day to day basis and get a variety of items for very low prices. I, like you stock pile non perishables, dog food, toiletries and household items when they're on offer. I realise that I'm lucky to be able to have the disposable income and space to do this and know that not everyone does. So with regards to forward planning, I'm much the same as you. I don't forward plan for meals, atleast not until I've been whoopsieing! But I do forward plan in the sense that if I see something on offer and I know that I'll need it before it's expiry, I buy it.

I am very flexible when it comes to meals because (touch wood) I do pretty well with whoopsies and therefore whatever's in is what's eaten! :p I have a large chest freezer and 90% of the whoopsied meat and meal items I buy goes into the freezer. I don't freeze cooked meats unless it's for me because everyone else has a 'thing' about them and won't eat them!!:mad: (Same with cheese, milk and butter!) So if any of these appear in the whoopsie cabinet, I buy as much as I think we would use before it's past it's best. Of course having chickens is a fantastic way to use up any leftovers, they're not fussy they'll eat pretty much anything :D

    Hi all,

just thought i'd let you all know about a great deal i picked up in Asda today (i know this is the tesco thread, but didn't want anyone to miss it)!
the boxes of Foxes 'Wonders' Biscuits, selection tin, 400g size are scanning for 2p. Tried it out in a couple of stores & it worked, so hopefully a national deal if your store has any stock left.

That reminds me of another embarrassing online MSE confession:

My OH likes a vein poppingly hot bath. You know, the kind that gives you the purple sock look? Well this friend of Martin likes it lukewarm. Guess who takes a recycled bath everyday. We are kinda like mama n papa bear that knows a golden haired girl. A bit ew I know, but we are also on a water meter so win win!
