I was explaining to my friend what I do when wombling, just before they left her 4 yr old lad hugged me and said "Auntie, next time you go wobbling around the carpark can I come with you?" Time for a diet me thinks0 -

Is there any chance of having the recipe - these welsh cakes of yours sound absolutely lush!!! will love you for ever :A:A:A
8oz plain flour
3oz sugar
4oz "fat" I use half salted butter and half lard - can use all butter if preferred
½ tsp baking powder
pinch nutmeg
2oz currants
1 egg
splash of milk if needed
Rub the fat and flour together as if making pastry so you get the breadcrumb stage
Chuck rest of dry ingredients in
add the egg to form a soft dough (use milk if too dry)
Roll out on a floured board
cut into circles (I use a drinking glass)
pop onto a heated bakestone for 2-3 mins per side
Use a non stick frying pan instead of a bakestone
Place on a wire rack to cool and sprinkle with sugar[/QUOTE]
