My FIL used to work in the steel works in Sheffield. After he was made redundant when they closed them, they bought a guest house in Torquay. I went up there for the first time about 10 years ago, expecting to see remains of all the mineworks etc...but couldn't believe there wasn't a trace!....just a few hills where they'd been covered over.
SSS hope you feel better soon, I know its hard with a new born and other kids but please try to rest up x
Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end0 -

Just been to Re@ding West Extr@ and picked up some mini eggs. Scanned at self scanner for 1p, so I threw 5 bags in the basket along with 5 bags of spicy peanuts and a few things I actually needed and headed to the til.
Going thru self service til I got to the end, pressed "finish and pay" and nothing happened. Tried again, frozen. Eventually a SA came over who didn't seem to notice my penny list and sent me across to another scanner while she tried to fix mine. Exactly the same happened. Nearby manager came over and said the til would not allow me to go through with items for a penny, confiscated the penny items and left to take any remaining peanuts or mini eggs off the shelf.
I'm not doing so well at this...0 -
Just as long as they ban people, instead of banning whoopsing!
We don't want to complain too much, as Mr t's might decide it's not worth the effort of discounting
Stores won't stop reducing stuff right down, because they are penalised on what they "waste"
They would rather sell it for 2p than have to account for it as wasteage.
I was told this by the person who does the reductions in Sainsburys when I said that they must pay her more to reduce it than they actually get for the stuff. My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.0 -
It'll be interesting to see if they actually do ban these people.
I am not a regular T's whoopsier as it's too far for me to go, but nearly every time I've been, whether it's a Sunday or an evening, I've seen the same couple there. Mr sits in his Mobility scooter between the person doing the ruductions and the shelves blocking the way for anyone else to get near them while Mrs is inside grabbing everything in sight. They have got it off to a fine art! I've also seen them take all the expensive meat before it gets reduced right down and Mr sticks it in his basket on the front of his scooter and drives around the store with it.....then takes it back to be knocked down further....This really pees me off!!
The only time I've done really well was the one night they weren't there, and everyone else stood back and shared it out fair and square, asking if anyone else wanted something when there were more than two or so of each item.
I think T's (and other supermarkets for that matter) need to start banning certain people from the whoopsies so good on you for complaining :T
Well, do as I (and nikki) did and make your voice heard. No point telling us (well actually carry on as you know how all of us here love a good old gossip lol) you need to be speaking to the tesco managers. If you know other whoopsie hunters then get them to as well.
There was an old boy who used to do what you describe too but I got that stopped too
I'm all for sharing and enjoying my bargains with others but fairs fair and I won't stand for people repeatedly doing this.0 -
You should visit magna if you get chance, it isn't as good as it used to be but I love it where they bring the big melt to life

What's Magna???? Apparently the Steelworks FIL worked at has been turned into a museum and his picture is up on the wall as he was the first to do some new kind of casting or something. My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.0
