Really, I'm sure there's a post from someone saying they would like formula to be available through prescription only, for women who 'really' need it. If that isn't condemning women who choose to FF I don't know what isAccept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I thought feminism was about creating and appreciating choice for women, not taking it away!
well, the mother centric views are that of the feminists - do whatever with you want with your body - be it breastfeeding, abortion or parading around being with silly banners saying !!!!!! and proud etc0 -

Yes I agree with the notion that women have the right to do what they like with their own bodies
Hey I'm a feminist!
I don't think feminists tell other women what to do with their bodies do they?

they are a class act when it comes to making a spectacle of themselves because even between feminists, there's never been a reconciliation of what they stand for, but can i save all that ridicule

Can I be a feminist that doesn't make a spectacle of themselves?

I agree that breastfeeding advocates can be over the top but I have not seen it here.
:T:T:T THANKYOU!!
Personally speaking I expressed my opinion, not even that I wished all women would try it, but that I didn't really understand why they wouldn't. In no way did I or would I blame them or judge them for that. I simply am not able to compute it but that may well be my own shortfall. There are plenty of decisions I don't understand but just because I don't understand them doesn't make them bad decisions.
I left the thread because I felt that my opinion was being misinterpreted to imply that I was somehow belittling women who choose not to breastfeed which couldn't really be further from the truth. Thank you for being the voice of reason.0 -

As long as they are happy and well adjusted let them get on with it.
I think more children are obese through chicken nuggets, chips and crisps than by being breast fed as toddlers.
I agree but, and there is always a but.....some people feel the same about issues we as a nation have accepted we need social services to step in for,.....
For example, for some their happy healthy and discipline home is to others a repressive and unhealthy one. For some their liberal, child lead home is entirely welfare lead, for others it might be failing to prepare children for aworld in which they ate adult. If we don 't explore why people feel the way they do we are denied the opportunity to see things from a different point of view...so in that sense these things always matter a bit to me, while intrinsically I believe in free choice and diversity in approach

I did not see the thread you refer to so do not know what was being said to her, but I would say that is a failing by those around her to recogonise her anquish and fully support her.
Incidentally, just why are health professionals pushing breastfeeding if the data is inconclusive? Surely there must be regulations covering this sort of thing?
I am not going to re post the comments by Person One but they are there, as I said, both Sam and GR picked her up for those posts.
I can't really add anything to my previous post, aside from saying that whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion, others are entitled to comment and cry foul when that insidiously undermines mothers who do not fit their ideal. From a personal perspective I never had any angst about how my children were fed, it was a non issue, they were fed, loved and nurtured, and have grown up happy and healthy. So, the breast v bottle is irrelevant to me from that standpoint. Had I not read the other thread I probably would have been out of this one way back, but I did, and it struck me forceably that bottle feeding is still seen as undesirable.
Some of the opinion on here, and the thanks for that opinion, has astounded me....formula on prescription, must breastfeed etc etc. All those posts were thanked, go back and look. So much for choice and the right of a woman to choose.
If you really can't see the underlying inferences behind some (not all)posts from those who advocate breastfeeding, then you perhaps don't want to see it.0
