I'd ad it to mash. I often put celeriac into roasted roots, but suspect tinned celeriac may be too soft for this.

I didn't notice it was 5kg!!! I thought it was ur average tin of soup size and was going to add it to a soup/stew thingy - thought it wouldn't hurt to give it a bash... Now it'll be a bash on saturday, sunday mash, Monday gratin (can you freeze?) frozen anything really!!!- having enchilladas next week so no doubt it'll end up in the filling....

Hi determined new ms,
This thread is more about fresh celeriac, but it might give you some inspiration:
What to do with celeriac?
I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the ideas together.

At a penny for 5kg of food, you will FIND something to do with it! Especially if you are buying other stuff anyway so already paying postage...Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -
I love celeriac mash, made with half celeriac and half potato, then topped with cheesy breadcrumbs and baked in the oven until bubbly. The original recipe said it was intended as a side-dish for a roast, but I can eat it on its own.
I've only ever made this with fresh celeriac but I can't see why it wouldn't work with tinned. (And I never knew until now that you could even get tinned celeriac. You learn something new every day on here!)

A penny? That's fantastic. It's my favourite root, I think, eben though it's not really a root. I would make it into soup, puree it, and have it like pureed potatoes with all sorts of yummy things, mix it in with mashed potatoes for a yummy Shepherd's pie topping. It makes a lovely salad if you cube it, add some finely chopped onion and a sour cream based dressing.
You can also chop/grate it and mix it with other grated veg (onion, carrot) and a vinaigrette-type dressing.
Mum and I sometimes bought a large celeriac, cooked half of it ready cubed for a salad and parboiled large slices to be dipped in egg and bread crumbs and pan-fried as a meat substitute.
