    Hi all,

We've double-checked with Clinique and you do not need to book an appointment to get the freebie.

    Thanks,
    MSE Penny

Thank you, this cleared up the confusion. :)

That's great that you don't need to make an appointment. I've got a couple of old mascara's so I'll take my daughter with me and hopefully we can get a free sample each.

Could anyone recommend which sample is best?

    Many thanks OP x

I only use Clinique make up and I always use the high impact mascara. It gives great coverage without clumping and going gloopy.

I wont be getting the free sample as I don't have a Clinique counter in my local Boots, I buy mine from John Lewis.

i have 5 old ones saved up,waiting for this .thanks op!
dear lord, some of the people on here are unreal. exchanging samples of a mascara for the same one a year later or saving up 5 or 6 rubbish ones to hog all the samples & wouldn't dream of spending a penny over a pound on anything, leaving people who actually do spend a bit of money at clinique with nothing. really does my head in!

Oh Sarah, how I agree with you.

Janec. Imagine you invited a friend in for a coffe one day, and you put a plate of biscuits on the table. How would you feel if she took one to eat now, and a shoved a fistful in her handbag to have later ?? I imagine you would think her rude and greedy, but that is how you seem to be over these mascara offers.

And I know you might say "well this is different, Clinique is a company ". But it isn't really THAT different. Yes Clinique is a company, which is there to make a PROFIT. Now that isn't a dirty word, it is how our world works. The company has owners, the shareholders. Shareholders aren't all filthy rich people, they include persioners and houswives who own a few shares, and rely on the dividends paid out of company profits for basic income. Shareholders in big companies like Clinique will also include pension funds and savings schemes, whose managers invest in companies and use the dividend and rise in share price to pay out pensions and savings bonuses.

When folk abuse promotional marketing offers like this, that affects the profitability of the company. That can affect your pension/savings/endowment policy final bonus.

At the very least, your actions cause Clinique to raise their prices on all the products they sell thru the year, to finance their promotion. So your action means we all pay more in the long run.

Now I recognise that you may think "so what, it doesn't bother me, I still end up with 5 free mascaras" and I suppose that's fine (tho not necessarily something to boast/gloat about). I guess there will always be some people who think " I'm alright Jack" in the world.

Personally I will pop into boots on Saturday with a max factor mascara that I bought but didn't like last year, and hope to swap it for ONE sample of the Clinique mascara. And if I like it, I'll probably BUY the full size later in the year !!
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

Without taking sides I do disagree with the above Clinique have ordered x amount of samples they are budgeted and paid for, these are sent to stores when they are gone they are gone. Whilst I'm sure they'd like their 10k samples to go to 10k people I'm sure they will have factored in some customers getting more.
I think the only possible consequence is a change to promotion rules or promotions being cancelled

I don't think anyone can disagree with what you say but what prompted me to post in the first place was the sheer greed of some that jumped out at me. As stated, we all like a bargain but I wouldn't dream of going to the extent that some seem to on here as the old saying goes "share and share alike".

I look on the freebies board too for example but I don't send off for things I have no need for. If I suddenly started sending of f for free samples of nappies my 22 year old would start getting a bit worried and have me in a home for the bewilldered quicker than I could say dementia!

Thanks, I'll try and get hold of the high impact and give it a go, it sounds perfect.
