  • I took an old mascara belonging to my daughter to Castlepoint today- I still had two old Clinique ones (trial sizes). I enquired about the exchange because on Thursday there had been a tub of old ones on the counter and it had reminded me of the offer. I asked her about it and she was completely offhand and treated me as though I didn't exist. I did wander over to look at the makeup, whilst she nipped over to make up a customer. She didn't acknowledge me or anything. The last time I visited Clinique in Boots (a few months ago) I bought over £50 worth of goods. I was quite shocked at the attitude of the assistant as it was extremely rude. Needless to say, I won't visit again. I know from reading the comments on here that there are people, who have no intention of buying a mascara from Clinique and yet now have a brand, new one. Okay, they were there in time and managed to snap up a limited supply. However, also, from the comments on here, that's not entirely true. This campaign hasn't been properly thought out and the assistants haven't been briefed. I wonder, also, if the fact that I am over 50 had something to do with it. If only she had been polite and taken the time to acknowledge me, I would have been fine about it all.

I dout it's to do with age my mum is over 50 and like myself uses Clinique, we always had nice friendly staff. Tbh I think its just her maybe she was having an off day or maybe she's always like that and has an attitute problem.
Eitherway It's no way to treat a current or potential customer and I am sure if you went into the store to complain to the Clinique manager she wouldn't be happy to hear how you was treated.

I'm over 50 too & had no trouble when collecting mine. There were loads left in Bluewater & the young assistant just asked me to fill in my details on a sheet. Thanks for posting op.
  • I know I'm probably too late, but out of interest were there just black mascaras available? I'm a redhead and have very pale eyelashes and eyebrows, I have to get brown mascara.

I only saw Black ones - choice of two types. Good point though. Perhaps a little comment to Clinique?

No, some of them are just naturally vile. I was in Debenhams a few months back & asked about the foundation sample I saw on here. I've never seen anyone so miserable in my entire life as the girl in Debenhams!
