Man I sooooo wish I hadn't thrown out my old mascaras
Can anyone tell me what the mascara they give out is like/ worth pls?
Is it worth the hassle of doing the poundland swap?
GRATITUDE WHEN GIVEN, PATIENCE WHEN DENIED

Please press the thanks button when someone has helped!
  • The whole stock was gone in Ipswich by 12noon! Either Ipswich is full of greedy people who took real advantage of the offer, or, the store underestimated demand.
  • Hope this is not a Dupe, I did check.

Told at the Clinique Counter in Boots in Cambridge that the Mascara exchange starts next weekend until the end of January. Take any old mascara and they will exchange it for a same size. Don't know if this will be all Clinique counters or just Boots. Also if you purchase any product you can book a free lip or eye makeover, bookable until end of Feb.

I was the same an amazing offer and I also booked in for my make up I two old mascaras and they let me have two fantatic :T

I think the mascaras are very nice. I got one of each last year, I haven't had the chance to do a swap this year (no full sized mascaras at home :p). I loved the white one from last year, it took a few attempts to get used to, but the result was fantastic! It gave a fake-lash look but with no clumps. The brush was a like a comb, so it feels like you're combing your lashes :rotfl:

I'm going to try and get a mascara from poundland/primark and exchange it, if they have any left tomorrow, that is! *fingers crossed*

    XO
  • Don't think my local Boots have a Clinique counter, walked in and out really quick it was awkward. :(

Cat72, given that the larger stores now open 7 days per week, for hugely long hours (our city centre branches open a total of 68 and a half hours a week !!) I don't think there are many people who couldn't schedule a consultation if they wanted to!

I think the "Ladies who lunch" brigade is quite a small group these days (I guess I fit that bracket with a friend of mine maybe twice a year), and most of them will probably shop somewhere much nicer than boots.

I work 6 days a week as a childrens counsellor and the nearest boots store is 25 miles each direction .On my 1 day off a week I am busy either doing shopping/washings/paying bills or helping out my family to put an appointment on for a consultation to buy a new lipstick.
My friend works 5 days a week, is constantly on school runs and running her home to book consultations either.
Im just saying that with peoples hetic lifestyles , appointnments for beauty consultations dont figure high on their priorites.

Yes I occasionaly meet up with my pals every few months for a lunch and wine , so nothing against that but women nowdays have so busy lifes I dont imagine a lot of people have the time for beauty conusultations -espcially for a free mascara.

I tried the white mascara and thought it a bit fiddley , it seperates eyelashes but the high impact definately makes them look much thicker- so clinique have saved me the expense of buying the bigger version ! Will stick to the high impact instead.

Got mine yesterday.. I forgot my old mascara at home so bought a £1 one to swap. The Clinique at Boots in Croydon will only give you one if you book yourself in for a free makeover or a skin check in the next 2-3 months. Of course you can always book yourself in and then cancel it just for the mascara, but I'll probably go for a skin check and they may give me some sample sized skincare products to try :D I definitely won't be buying anything when I go back.

It was a lot more straightforward last year when they did it in Debenhams, just hand it in and swap!

I swapped my current mascara for a High Impact sample. I gave my details and was then asked when I wanted my appointment and told that it was a condition of getting the mascara that I had to attend an appointment. Don't know if this is true if Boots have said otherwise and I didn't see anything about this on the promotional info on the counter when I went up - Is it maybe just a salesperson trying to get her commission?? I actually don't go into the city very often and had to give a time and date there and then so I would have to make a special trip to attend the appointment. Will they chase me for the return of the sample if I don't go???

I've exchanged 2 old mascaras, at 2 different stores, and neither insisted I booked a consultation.
