My wife went along to the Norwich branch of Boots with her old Mascara ready to exchange as the offer promised, only to be told that she would have to make an appointment for a Clinique consultation later in the week and only then would she be issued with the free sample. This is just a selling scam to get you through the door and then spend more money. The offer should have stated this in the first place. :(

At Boots Merry Hill I just handed in my old mascara and was given a new one - no need to give my name and address or book a consultation. Maybe try another Boots?

I did the swap at Boots in Stockport yesterday. I got there at about 12.00 and there was a queue of about 8 women with only one SA on the counter. We all were asked to complete our details and arrange an appointment. I have arranged mine for the weekend prior to my birthday and probably will go along to treat myself to something. At the end of the day Clinique would not be getting anything out of the promotion if they did not ask people to return for a consultation would they?
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

  • I went into the Taunton branch and asked the assistant and she said they are by the front just pop your old one in the tub on top and take a new mascara from the tub below! No appointment needed to be made or details taken.

Me too. Handed in dried up collection 2000 mascara, asked me which one i wanted. Just said which one would suit me best. She couldn't have been nicer.:rotfl:

  • I got mine with no questions asked but the consultant was a little moody when I asked her to explain the difference of the two.
  • I went into Boots in Bolton town centre today and requested to swap my mascara,

I had to come back half an hour later as the girl was on her lunch and when i returned there were a few people waiting to pay for items, i requested and exchange and she began to say they had run out, but then she asked me which one i wanted, i told her i would prefer the High Lengths, but if they had run out i wouldn't mind trying the High Impact, by this point a queue of about 3 people had formed behind me brandishing old mascaras so she quickly handed me a mascara and a form and moved onto the next person.

I'm not sure if they didn't ask me to make an appointment because they were busy, but after reading this thread i had a look on the Boots website and it does not mention an appointment at all.

I know a couple of people have asked about a written down copy of the offer so, the offer can be found here http://www.boots.com/en/Clinique/ and can be seen easier if you press pause on slide 1.

Boots in Worcester just took an old one and gave me a White mascara tube - in black but when I opened it it's not got a proper mascara type brush, but a thin wand - looks different to other mascara wands. I'd got this to give to my aunt but had a look and think I'd rather have one with a mascara brush on. Be nice for my aunt to try though.

I went to Boots in W1ndsor today and the SA was lovely. No appointment needed, she asked me which of the 2 types I would like, and even thanked me for coming in. What a polite helpful lady, and a credit to Clinique.

I got the lengthening one, which doesn't have a regular shaped brush, but I usually find that type quite good. They sometimes stop your lashes getting clogged together better than a regular brush.

Went to york Monks Cross yesterday... lovely SAs being very helpful. I got one my Mum the other. I use Clinique anyway.. Asked which ones they had for me to try and got a new one in a white tube... lovely for long lashes. Had to complete a form... asked if I wanted a consultation which I did nt but then they gave out details of a colour consultation which my Mums interested in ... even gave us details of our home town Clinique counter. Great service and a really great offer. Thanks Clinique and staff and of course OP!
  • I went into Blackpool one today as soon as it opened. They had none left :(
Shame really, I have a waterproof bodyshop mascara that turned out to irritate my eyes so I can't use it.
