Leeds Bradford airport rip off

I think when this was brought in there was a thread on here and a lot of people said their local airport charged as well.
As someone said there are two options where you do not have to pay,
1) drop off at the mini roundabout outside the barrier, approx 2 min walk to doors across car park
2) drop off in long stay car park and either walk up or use free shuttle bus.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -
Charges need to be proportionate and appropriate. Otherwise , banks could charge 1000 pounds per transaction , buses could charge 1000 per trip. Just because it is private property does not give them the right to impose ridiculous charges. Otherwise there would be no end to it.
Rubbish! They can charge whatever they like for a service.
I think you are getting confused with penalty fees which under contracts cannot be punitive in nature. The cost for the services / products they offer can be whatever they like.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
You have freedom of choice.
You can choose to use another airport.
They are a PRIVATE business, not a pubic service.
All the airports are doing is charging customers to recoup the costs of the increased security measures which the last government forced on them, but required the airports to pay 100% of the costs for.
All this despite the fact that many of the terrorist threats and actions were provoked by the actions of Tony Bliar's government.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
The cost of an item has to be proportionate. For example , a ford Ka cannot be priced at 100000 and the manufacturers tell us " we can charge whatever we like ". Colgate cannot charge 100000 for a tube of toothpaste and claim " oh , but we will charge whatever we like "
Yes they can.
You have the freedom of choice.
You can choose not to buy it, just like you can choose to use a different privately owned airport.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

You're joking right???
Do you have any idea how contracts work? The price is the figure agreed by the two parties. This can be a billion pounds for a piece of paper of £1 for a business worth many millions.
Why do you think Heinz can charge £1 for a can of beans when the same beans in a Tesco Value tin costs a tiny fraction of the price? If it was universally accepted that companies could charge whatever they can , there would be no need for these forums , no need for anybody to complain , no need for any rules and regulations.
Then you are obviously very, very silly. Think about it, what makes a painting worth millions? certainly not the value of the paint and canvas it is painted on...
For clarity, companies don't actually charge anything. The prices advertised are simply an "invitation to treat". The customer is the one that offers a monetary amount for the service / product the company are offering.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

WRONG!
Every country has laws saying companies cannot charge unreasonable sums for their products or services. The price charged must legally be kept at a reasonable level.
That is why a tin of beans does not cost £500 or a new jumper £1,000,000.0 -
If I lived in Leeds , I would use the Leeds Bradford airport. What s the point in driving to Edinburgh for example just because the charges are cheaper. Airports are not like tescos where there is one just round the corner and you have the freedom of choice.
yes but you don't have to drive to Leeds Bradford to use the airport. You have freedom of choice in how you get to the airportThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Put up or shut up.
And what I mean by this is please provide some evidence (i.e. these laws that you mention) to say that private companies or individuals cannot buy and sell their property at whatever price they agree with the buyers of said property.
Is that an AE dfh2012?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

And in fact, the charge now becomes discriminatory under UK law. If you take a car to the airport, you must pay an illegal charge. If you take the bus, you are somehow exempt from this charge, despite conducting the same actions.0 -
