Leeds Bradford airport rip off

So the central point remains that companies " cannot charge whatever they want ". If so,they would have charged 100000 for a tin of beans which is ridiculous .
They need to follow a simple law- the law of common sense .
They can and will charge what they want.
If there is a market demand the charge will follow it.
Remember the "fuel strike " ? petrol stations especially independents charged what they wanted, no law came into it.0 -
The fact remains that companies cannot charge 1000000 for a tin of beans which is what I have been saying all along. I would like to see a company do that and see what happens !
Thus the statement " Private companies can charge whatever they want " does not stand.
Yes it does !
They can charge what they like !
Because they do not charge in your words 100000 for beans does not mean they could not do it !
Sort of related example on ebay , the 20p coin with no date, some are asking £5 k, not because they cannot, because they can ! yes no one will buy ,but if there was a demand that is price that would be paid0 -
Well you gave the reason that it was ILLEGAL. Which is totally different the fact they would lose customers and ultimately go bust if they did charge what they like.
Which is 100% different to what you originally said.
And the same as everyone else has been saying, from the start. We knew you'd get there in the end.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
What is the cost of the train fare to and from manchester ?
Less than the cost of a taxi from where I live to LBA, and less than parking my own car at the airport. Add to this the cheaper cost of flights from Manchester and I'm quids in. Only downside is a relaxing train journey as opposed to a car journey on the M62 etc, oh well...0 -
" Companies can charge whatever they want "
That statement has been proved to be wrong as there is no shop in this country that can charge 100000 for a tin of baked beans.
I knew everyone would get there in the end.
You are definitely the stupidest person I have ever come across on MSE and I have been here a few years now, so congratulations.
There is no law stopping a company charging £1,000,000 for a tin of beans. Whether it would be economically viable for them is another question entirely. If you do a bit of research (evidently beyond your capability) you would quickly discover that prices on a shelf are merely an invitation to treat and that it is the CUSTOMER that offers a monetary value for the item, it is then up to the company to accept or decline that offer.
I know I am wasting my time typing this. :rotfl:Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
If companies could have charged whatever they wanted, we would have had a 1000000 tin of baked beans by now. There is no shop in this country that does that.
Thus the statement " Private companies can charge whatever they want " does not stand.
It's only Hothead who agrees with you and he's a peen. Seriously, you're completely outnumbered here. Time to call it a day."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

No they cannot charge 100000 for tin of beans, but they can charge what they want !
Where i live.
Sainsbury superstore, Tesco supermarket, Coop Supermarket, all have Heinz beans at 76p.
Also a Spar and Local convenience, same Beans at 85p
Finally an independent, Heinz beans at 1.06.
So companys can charge what they want !0 -

I will believe that companies can charge whatever they want the day I see a tin of beans sold for 100000.
Thus the statement " Private companies can charge whatever they want " does not stand.
Never one to let an opportunity lapse, I am thinking of going into the grocery business and I would be perfectly happy to sell you a tin of beans for £100000.
